COMPLETE Overhaul of your Springfield

I have overhauled certain large sections, but never the whole thing! My advice would be:
-- put all the decorations into storage to get them out of the way so you can shuffle buildings around more easily
-- have a general plan in mind for residential/commercial/industrial areas and work in sections
-- spend time roaming your friends' Springfields for inspirtion
-- once you have your general placement of buildings and roads, go ahead and place your trees/decorations
-- tweak as necessary

Luckily, I bought land from the beginning and kept an eye on what what coming so I always had a place in mind for where I would place buildings. This meant that I had streets around empty blocks of land for quite some time... but they slowly filled in. Now, there is new content that I hadn't planned for and I am going to need to shift things around. I can't have Channel 6 right in the middle of my residential zone!

Have fun!!
  • I did this a few weeks ago when I had collected everything, it was a good excercise in time wasting at work

    My user id is benromero303
  • Thanks so far guys - I think I've decided that I want to buy and then have empty a couple more land expansions before going ahead. As you all say when you see well done springfields it makes you want to sort your own out!

I can also see this being a great time wasting at work exercise - I'll add you benomero303...
  • I just did this last weekend. I put everything in storage and started from scratch. Then I pulled out houses and buildings and placed them. I did it almost exactly how spiffshine said to. It was a daunting task and I almost gave up but I had too overhaul it. When I took all of my Halloween crap out my town looked wrong, all weird. I started playing mid September so the Halloween was just coming in to my town as I was leveling up. Now that its all gone I have all this space that is open so until I get the last 5-6 buildings I have a big open spot in the middle of my town with a lake/park. Good Luck!
  • Good luck! The only thing I've ever done related to this was replace the spots Halloween buildings covered with trees.
  • I just started my gigantic overhaul (in the midst of buying alot of land) when channel 6 news and post office updates came in. Soooo...I'm making slight adjustments here and there bit by bit very slowly and trying to fit the new buildings in as well. It is taking a whole lot of time. And the 2 new buildings seem o so far away.
  • I created ? commercial center.
But the other buildings (houses, church, plant, cemiteries, etc) grew naturaly.
  • I would sort of feel bad if I did a massive overhaul.

Just like how a real city develops , it starts small and grows. Every city is inefficient due to this process, but the town has history. Every now and then the city remodels or relocates building locations, but no town does a massive overhaul.

My Simpsons house still hasn't moved since the task to build it occured.

Just another way to look at it.

I have no advice to offer, I'm sorry, since I'm moving things constantly. I just pop in this thread to say that I hope you'll save your labyrinth 'cause it looks cool!

Grazie mille La Dadaista! Putting the Labyrinth away would be a shame - it's just a shame that the characters never actually use it! The thing is I'd like to have all my buildings more like your's are with a bit of space/gardens around them. We'll see!
