EA - Stifling Creativity!

I've hit the brick wall with the maximum number of items allowed in a town (1100).

I just got my 4 year anniversary badge today for the forum. That means over four years playing the game. Three of those years have been spent rebuilding my town after blowing it up just before the original monorail event.

With all the new content over those years it's been an on-going process that I have yet to complete.

I'm a completionist and I want to display the whole lot. I like this game because of the small details I can create to compliment the buildings and major decorations. I like to decorate to give a realistic feel to the town (as much as is possible in a cartoon town on my iPhone.

But having hit the item max I feel like a painter whose paint choices have been cut in half before his masterpiece is completed.

Look, I've been programming databases for 25 years. I understand data constraints and caching. But this max item count has slowly risen over time and it seems more of an arbitrary number rather than a programming constraint. Yes, my town takes longer to load (as does many neighbors'), but I'm okay with that.

EA - Please lift the item # cap. At least give us a larger jump in the max rather than an extra hundred or so when it has been raised in the past.

Yes, many of you will say, "But the challenge is to be creative within the prescribed limitations." I say that's an argument from people that are content to be happy with only what they are given in life. I want more, or at least the opportunity to get more if I feel I need it.

My building has come to a halt, unfinished. I'm hoping for a substantial rise in item count with the upcoming Halloween event.

Please?
  • I feel like a bit of broken record whenever someone creates one of these threads. No matter how eloquent or impassioned the pleas, the cap isn’t going to be abolished or incremented by more than a few hundred.

They probably put it up by 100 for Halloween but that's all they seem to be doing with each event now. They really need to start by putting it up by 1000's and not 100's.
  • I don't feel that it's a programming constraint rather a device constraint, this is pure speculation on my part but they don't want to max out the latest devices straight away.
  • I'm inclined to agree with devil. There's lots of devices out there and older generations don't have the processing hardware to keep up.

It's like the teacher who teaches a subject to the level of the slowest kid in the class. EA contains the limit to the lowest device capabilities.

If EA made it so moving from one part of the map to another triggered a reload (much like when you visit a neighbor's land) then it would give you want you wanted.

Users would absolutey hate that kind of game behavior.
