Fastest Way to Earn Money

Build up 100 "Friends". Visit them once a day each and make sure they do the same, otherwise replace them.

Keep characters on tasks geared to how often you check in.

House farming really doesn't work when you loo at the cost of a house vs. it's pay out and how often it pays. I can't stand to see house farming and when I find it in a neighbor's Springfield, I replace them.

Buy premium items that up your bonus.
Get 100 friends and visit them daily.
House farm a lot.
Send characters on the shortest length time you can handle.

I have a bank of extra houses for when events happen to make sure I have enough bldgs for my friends to click in case life prevents me from playing. My town is a work in progress. I have changed it 4 times in the past 6 months. LOL!

I house farmed in the beginning, then bought a boatload of doughnuts and purchased most of the premium bldgs that came with characters and a few multipliers. I also made sure I had 5 stars and 100 friends to visit each day. I am not quite at my anniversary mark...think it is in Aug...and I don't worry about having how much game $ I have. It is a nice feeling. Just be patient and you will get there.

Although I feel kind of ridiculous saying it to someone with thousands more posts than I have myself, on the off chance no one else has said it, welcome to the forum! :D I'm guessing all of the other messages are from your other chosen forums. Earlier today, I started a thread asking my fellow forumreenos if I should tear apart my kinda-well designed town in order to revert to my former housefarming ways. The jury is still out in my case, but I will tell you by far and away and without a shadow of a doubt that having a huge housefarm is absolutely the fastest method of grinding...IF you keep up with it. Depending on how often you can visit your town, you can collect HUGE amounts of cash if you clear your town regularly. Most people seem to prefer blue or purple houses, due to their relatively low purchase price and shortish payout times. I myself always referred to brown houses as my workhorses, as they cost virtually nothing, have almost no build time, and pay out every few minutes. I also eventually started to farm purples and blues. Aesthetics aside, (I'm not going to lie, my town looked like crap) I made it my mission to collect at every possible opportunity, and the variety of house colors made sure I was always collecting on something. As other contributors have pointed out, keeping everyone available tasked, buying items that increase your multiplier, and maxing out your conform-o-meter are beneficial also. Hope this has helped. If you are going to house farm, in my son's situation, the best choice was the blue house. My son didn't have time to make a commitment to be a good neighbor to 100 people, so he put up 100 blue houses while finishing all questlines. At $1,800 each, paying out $150 every 8 hours, if you can handle collecting 3 times per day for the first 4 days, a blue house will be paid for.

His schedule was 6AM, 2PM, 10PM. He continued the schedule after the houses were paid for. The time creeps forward -- every three days, he skipped the night round, to get back on track. So every three days, he collected $1,200 per house. (Averages out to $2,800 per week) For his 100 houses, he collected well over a quarter million per week, which helped him pay for the high priced buildings in the upper quest levels and THEN to finish up buying all the land after his quests were done. Then he sold off his houses and had scads of money from their sale to buy decorations galore!

Remember -- Focus on finishing quests first. You'll spend your ingame money on buildings and characters, which are money-generators. Buy enough land to keep it looking like a town but Don't buy excessive land (which gives zero payout) until you finish the quests. By the time you work through the quests, you will have over 50 free money-making characters.

You can string your houses around the circumference of your town. Most people will never notice and of those who do, most won't care. Some will. They'll drop you. Then come back to the add-me thread and replace them, and everyone will be happy campers. :)

30 & 60 min tasks earn the most over time. Wish more characters had 30 min tasks. On my days off, I run them on the short task till I go to bed & than put the characters on 8 hour tasks.

I grinded the brown houses early on too. I leveled up fast. Then later those brown houses gave my friends something to always tap on, because I stopped collecting on them, but kept them clear of handshakes.

Then I had a little farm of pink houses. Off on the edge. I liked their 6hr time.
Then a little farm of blue houses. 8hr time.

Now I plan to get the land and spread this all out into nice neighborhoods.

I basically did this except the "friends" part. It became too time consuming because I would have to constantly keep track of who actually visited my town, remove people who never visited, and find/add new ones. It was a constant cycle. I did have a house farm at the beginning which I kept in the far corner so it wasn't a blight on my town. I set everyone on 12hr tasks and then once I got to 1M I ended up farming the white houses since I was checking in only 2x a day and wanted to get the most of them. I stopped buying houses when I hit 200 houses earning 100k per day. When I finally hit 100M I stored my house farm and rebuilt Springfield again. I've rebuilt 3x already. I am now down to about 20M and am actually considering house farming again if/when we can purchase more land. But until then I am back to everyone and everything set at12hr tasks.

You don't have to keep track of who visits you, that's unnecessary and frankly it's greedy.

Outside of events where you get something from their visits the neighbors are more like money makers than anything else- donuts and a cool $300/25 XP per neighbor or about $30,300/2,525 XP for the entire list. What you get from others giving to you is extra,

OP: 100 neighbors and visiting them every day is your quickest way to get money. In the long run you can get by with about 12-20 houses in addition to the required houses. This is more than enough to give you XP and money while not being a "house farm". Just decorate them with trees and fences creating a neighborhood, it's supposed to be a town after all!

Sorry, I couldn't help myself. Some might not get the joke, but it's based solely on the title of the thread and reminded me of the old commercials.

Aside from the pointless joke, I would like to add to what the others have said. I get most of my money from tasks and visiting friends, which has been mentioned. But, I don't think anyone really explained the fact that the shorter tasks will earn you more money in the long run if you are there to tap them shortly after they complete. I like 2 hour tasks personally. It doesn't take long to visit your town quickly to collect and reset your tasks. I get a short smoke break at work every few hours that allows me to do this method. Basically, my point is that doing 4 X 2hr tasks will net you more cash than doing one 8 hr task as long as you can collect within a short amount of time after they finish. If you are going strictly for cash and don't care so much about animations and such, this is the best way to go. Other than going into detail on the shorter tasks, everyone else explained everything excellently. ;)
