- So... since I haven't been playing since the forced update also...
Am I correct in my observations that so far no one who has updated, but not started the Heights expansion has lost any donuts? In other words, at least it seems safe to update and continue to play "normally"?
I would really like to get the Banana Dictatorship before it expires, especially if a fix for the donut issue rolls our donuts back to before the Heights update... - I was forced to update. I had been waiting, hoping for the patch. However, have not launched the game, to play, as I am nervous about this issue. Seems we can't fiigure out a root cause. I hope EA can so they can patch it soon and that everyone gets their donuts back easily.
- I updated a couple of days ago. Played a little in SH until i read about so many donuts being lost, at furst i thought it was just a few people...but seems to be a lot. I havent been back into SH and also havent moved any SF buildings into the area either..i case that was a trigger.
Going to hold off to see when patch arrives. - Okay, me again... I was just thinking about what would be best to do in the situation right now and I have a few questions that maybe some of you might know a few things about...
First, can the devs or the reps of the customer service actually see or monitor your ingame activities? I mean, can they find out whether you purchased items with donuts, started quests for Springfield Heights, gained overrtime bonuts or even downloaded the update and so on?
I'm asking because I was thinking about the possibilities for them to rectify the donut losses and I guess it might be impossible for them to address each case individually. I mean, there seem to be thousands of cases in which people lost donuts and what's more, there doesn't seem to be any discernible logic by which cases could be handled. So my guess is they will have to do some sort of general roll back which, for players who didn't update and continued grinding for bonuts, could actually result in losing their overrtime wins. So a general fix could result in fixing the issues and providing a general solution to the ongoing donut loss, but could still leave some players at a disadvantage who will then want to contact support to have their cases dealt with individually. Which leads me to the question if the reps actually have any information at hand about what has been going on with individual accounts or whether they simply have to believe you and the best you can do is provide some evidence backing your claims. I guess, if that should be the case, it is probably advisable to update now and at least log in to get a screenshot of your current donut balance (including the unopened tunnel maybe) to have at least some proof in case a fix with a roll back leaves you off worse than before.
Now, of course, this is pure speculation on my part and I'm not particularly tech-savvy when it comes to stuff like this, but it's the best uneducated guess I can make... What do you guys think about this?
My second question would be: Does the offer for the Banana Dictatorship already pop up immediately after updating or do you have to start the Heights quests for it to appear?
I would really like to get that building before the offer expires, but I'm certainly not opening the tunnel for it with all these bugs still going around... - I was forced to update yesterday, but I won't open SH either until the donut problem has been fixed.
I hope my donuts are safe if I just play on regular SF and visit friends. - When they issue the patch they are supposed to reset peoples' donuts to what they were at the beginning of the event. I wonder if that means everything you buy in the meantime will be free.

Could be... but you never know.
I wanted to try this by at least spending the donuts I got since Springfield Heights was introduced by buying the Banana Dictatorship which I wanted to have anyway. But if you simply update without placing Burns Slant Drilling and beginning the quests, it's not available... :-(- For those holding out...
I got the Column Mansion because it helps Indolence and I find oddly shaped buildings useful. It is, however ugly, and I'd have been happy to take a pass on it as I did the other building if Indolence wasn't a constant annoyance. A bit of buyer's remorse actually, but I always spend foolishly when my donut total is up.
Also, you won't have any problem catching up: it is incredible how fast you can accumulate buildings and decos if you're careful how you upgrade. I waited until I was forced out of Tap Ball yesterday afternoon. By the end of the night, I had all of the available buildings and decorations. There's a ton of upgrading left to do, but no limit on when it's done.
On the other hand...
I lost no donuts, and it's an absolute blast. - Wish I took this advice.

I didn't know it was an ongoing thing, I thought people lost donuts when they updated. I haven't loss any donuts. It seems like it only affected a small segment of people. I"ll continue to play, hopefully I don't regret it.
For your sake I recommend holding out until it's fixed.
