Yeah, cause I'm sure you've never downloaded music to your computer, or watched a bootleg dvd, or streamed a movie in line. In fact, you're probably perfect, and never done anything wrong in your life. So please, stay up there on your high horse, and keep judging others like this effects your life in any way shape or form. How sad and empty can someones life be that they care what happens to other people?? I don't care who gets banned, who doesn't, who hacks, or who doesn't, because IT DOESN'T EFFECT MY LIFE. I worry about myself, not others, you should try it.
Very well stated, chrisp...I used the same digital music comparison on another site. If you choose to hack the game, great...if you don't, wonderful...more power to you. I don't care either way. It's your own individual choice how you want to play and it doesn't affect me one way or another. Complaining about people using hacks comes off like sour grapes from people who want items they can no longer get to me. Otherwise, why would you bother complaining about it? Just enjoy your game and move on.
Except that's never happened. EA's prices have been the same since day 1. So lets cross that imaginary bridge when we get there.
And my point was, if you download music, or anything else, then what right does anyone have to judge others for hacking? Give me a break. It's not about disagreeing. It's about, that until hacking THIS game effects your experience, then you have no argument.TwiztidThorn wrote:

Hahaha is that really the argument you're going to make to counter my point?? You can't be serious?
If your neighbor has a leaning tree, you should voice your concerns to your neighbor.
If you think someone is hacking their game, you should voice your concerns to EA. You have every right to do so, and you probably should. Whether it's an individual user or someone like Gamezino. Report them. Let EA handle it. There's no need to come an internet forum and * and complain about it. Do something about it if it bothers you that much.
My point, since I clearly need to make it one last time, is that, it's completely hypocritical and comical to bash people for hacking, when the same people don't care if someone downloads music illegally or buys bootleg dvds. It's the exact same thing as Gamezino. You're not paying the artist/developer, they're not seeing a dime of that money. You're paying an outside 3rd party to provide you an illegal service. There's an entire thread on here about someone buying seasons 1-24 on bootleg, and no one said a word, but someone hacks their game, and let's get our panties in a bunch like it has some effect on our lives. What's the difference between the DVD's and the game? Please, explain that one to me. You're not paying Fox/EA anyway you look at it, and by your logic, you should be in an uproar over it because it has the POTENTIAL to make Fox raise their DVD prices in the future. So yeah, sure :)TwiztidThorn wrote:

I think this is closer to reality:
A very, very, VERY small percentage of TSTO players hack. Many of these people who hack would likely never spend much, if any, money in the game in the first place. So how much is EA really losing? It's not the same as going into a store and stealing merchandise...it's not as if someone who wants to legitimately purchase donuts is prevented from doing so (which is not to say the act is any more right or wrong).
So let's talk about EA's profits...TSTO is one of, if not THE highest grossing app game there is these days. What was it, $23M in just the first quarter...and that's just with iOS! In July, Cnet had it listed as the eighth highest grossing iPhone app EVER (and that's only in 16 months, including all the time the game was made unavailable to new players!) Point being, EA is raking it in big time and it is continuing to grow daily as new players join the fray. They're making more off the game every day, hacks or not. I really don't think they're even that concerned about it, actually...as long as it's a small percentage of individuals hacking their private games (which it is, for the most part), it's not worth the effort to do something about it from a financial sense (GameZino scenarios, on the other hand, are a different story). Banning these users can only hurt their sales as a good deal of these users are also game system owners who likely purchase other EA games, so I feel that's not a likely option either these days (which is not to say it couldn't happen either...it was different during the game's initial run, where they were dealing with a much smaller pool of gamers and a buggy game that was costing them a fortune, and this is the time frame where most of the bans I've heard about came from).
As for them raising prices because of hacking? They're doing it anyway and WOULD do it anyway. The game's profits would have to take a major hit before this can truly be considered a viable situation. And, if you think about it, you could also look at digital music as an example of the opposite happening! The price of albums has been slashed as a result of internet piracy. Gone are the days of a new album costing you almost $20...most every one goes for around $10 now, and tons of older titles run between $5-7 (both hard & digital copies). Would this have been the case had it not been for digital music and piracy? Doubtful. Will that situation parallel itself here? I can't say (obviously).
I wasn't dismissing Lucci's opinion (and it's unfortunate that it's her post that gets caught up in this as she's not the only one who is vocal in complaining) just because I disagree with her...I wasn't dismissing it at all. What I was doing was simply saying that people would be much better off just minding their own business.
It won't matter much soon anyway. Once Level 33 comes out, it's going to kill most every hack out there. Since spAnser is out of the hack game and it seems like his hack was by far the most prevalent out there, many people's hacking days will be over.chrisp530 wrote:

This is a slippery slope here...does that mean if you see someone has a crapload of premium stuff in their town, they must be hacking? We've all seen examples of people spending a TON of cash on the game legitimately, so who's to say who's hacking and who isn't? I mean, if someone has like a dozen Springfield Falls in their town, then, yeah...that dude's hacking...but in many other cases, it's certainly not that clear cut (even though assumptions can be made). I don't think it's fair to report people for hacking because you think they sorta might be.
This is where the whole "minding your own business" thing comes in...if you don't like it, delete the person as a friend and call it a day.chrisp530 wrote:

I wouldn't want to be punished for downloading movies and music, but I happen to think that the people who have knowingly hacked this game should be banned. Hypocritical? Yep, and I'll continue to bash people who bash other people when their opinion is a joke. And when you're a hypocrite, you're opinion is a joke. Everyone has the right to make their opinion known, and I have the right to make my response. Which, I'll continue to do.
Upset? About what? I was stating facts and my own opinion. I'm not sure where you got upset from. And who is trying to convince their self or anyone they're doing nothing wrong? Where did anyone say that? People who hack this game know damn well what they're doing, and if they're not prepared to deal with the consequences, then that's their own problem. I don't remember ever saying people who hack shouldn't be banned? Can you find that one for me? Don't think so. If they get banned, then of course they got what they deserved. It's that simple. I never said they didn't/wouldn't deserve it. I said people need to stop judging others. Anyone can feel free to throw the first stone when they've done nothing wrong themselves. If you can't understand that point, then that pretty much says it all.- I've read every word and you guys both make great points. I'll keep my opinion to myself Peace to all

Definitely agree, good sir.thatguywbp wrote:
wow that must have hit a nerve. the reason people "get their panties in a bunch" it precisely because it DOES affect them. pirating is not the exactly the same as hacking dlc games like this one. when you buy a movie, theres no chance that FOX will take it away from you when they stop making profits from it. do you think the ea servers will run this game forever? the more profitable this game becomes, the longer it will stay active and available. when studios or developers lose money, the consequences are not as immediately visible as they are here. it will usually affect the way they appoach their next movie or game. here it affects whether THIS game will be available in a year or five years. so selfish reasons i know, but contrary to your claim they DO affect other people who have spent money on the game because it affects the outcome of the game.
I understand why you think this, but your logic is flawed in this case. The hacking hasn't made a dent in EA's profits...they're making money hand over fist with this game and the profits grow every day. For what you said to be true, a much larger percentage of players would have to hack, and the percentage is just not there...not even close. I'd bet the majority of players of this game wouldn't even know where to look for a hack, much less how to implement it.
Think of it like this...this forum (and ones like it) is a miniscule fraction of the TSTO community, and the hacking community is a fraction of that!
If this game dies, it will be because it naturally ran its course, people lose interest or EA goes under, not because of a few hackers.
