Not necessarily. They could do an overlay to darken the screen, but there would need to be additional lighting effects for lamp posts, house lights, etc. They'd have to find a way for characters to be illuminated when they walked past a lamp post, etc. If Nite Mode ever happens, hopefully it will be a switch that we can toggle and choose if and when we want it.
Kinda like a ND filter mixed in with the snow.
