How will the Springfield death effect tsto?
They will more than likely keep the character. If anything they may do a story line to also honour the character. Let's hope that will lead to free donuts.

It shouldn't affect it at all. Considering we have 2 dead ex-presidents walking around, not to mention Shary Bobbins who also died by being sucked by a jet engine in the episode she's from.

Besides...technically speaking all the characters of Springfield have died and have been brought back to life. Did you forget the part where Homer blew up the town to smithereens?
Also as Frink pointed out in the tutorial, there are endless Springfields all part of a huge Multiverse.
