Is Jesse worth it?

he has two good visual tasks - a 1 hour protest at Krusty Burger (if its working again) and an 8 hr do yoga.

I think he can help with recycling too (I don't have him so I can't confirm). So if you want the extra help with weekly railyard challenges that might be another reason to get him.

He will speed up tasks, but this won't be realized until a bit further along. For example, on level 10, you have only Lisa and Jesse who can collect 140 fertilizer. With just Lisa, this will be 14 3-hour tasks. With Jesse it would be 7 rounds, saving 7 rounds of 3-hour tasks. Doing a quick calculation, he should save you about 40 rounds of 3 hour tasks (a bit less if you have some of the premiums). To me this is a significant improvement.

Also, if you do the Rail Yard grind, this should help you as well (this is my primary reason for getting him).

Just from this event point of view, you need to get a total of 1,260 fertilizer to max out the tree. I haven't tried yet, but I am assuming that this is like the valentines mini event where if you go over the required amount of fertilizer for that level it doesn't carry over. If that is the case, the total amount of hours it will take to get to level 10 will be:

With all premium characters and Jesse: 144 hours
With all premium characters without Jesse: 231 hours
With no premium characters: 273 hours

If that carry over assumption isn't correct, and you can carry over excess fertilizer, then with Jesse, this will drop to 126 hours. Theoretically, you could get around this carry over issue by staggering by a few minutes and then being really exact about signing back in to get that fertilizer on the next level....though I don't have Jesse, so I probably won't find out...

It appears that staggering doesn't work here. I tried it on level 2... sent Jesse in to get my last 10 for that level. 10 mins later it would not let me put my other characters in for their tasks (tried both the tree and the character's task list).

I can concur with Anaquarind, the game simply does not allow you to stagger for the construction of the Redwood. It's going to take a while to build!

Jesse's value is actually more valuable on the recycling tasks, since he can recycle all 4 items, trash, metal, plastic, and glass. Jesse can reduce a 4 day grind for 5 donuts to 2 days, and at 100 donuts, cheaper than the other premium characters that can only recycle 1 item. Jesse can gather fertilizer for the redwood tree after you get the 5 donuts for the week.
