- I don't consider tile tapping cheating, wheather or not it is a glitch is quite irrelevant to it being cheating. This is a single player game you can visit your neighbors but you can not compete with them in any significant way. Some may say oh that person has 6,384 tiles so their town is better than mine. But this simply is not true. Each person looks at each town through a different set of eyes and each set of eyes will discern something different. Sorry got all philosophical there. Anyway as I was saying it is a single player game so if you consider it cheating you are only cheating yourself. Tiles cost in game money and a little time this is no lose to ea. Now if it gave you a donut evytime you tapped then sure you are then cheating ea out of profit. Now to those who will say but you get donuts from bonus levels from xp from tapping. Then I guess buying weather stations by the thousands is also cheating. And for my dear friend mr slot do you consider turtle tipping cheating?

Actually the code was included in the original Gradius by accident. Much like our tile glitch (in my opinion). Does the intention (or lack thereof) to include it decide whether or not it is cheating?
It was originally used as a test feature. The game was difficult, so it was designed as a way for Konomi's testers to be able to test the game. Since the testers had trouble with the game (without the code), they left it in the game for all players that would have difficulty with said game (on a game by game basis - for the reward for entering in said code).
I guess that depends on who is telling the story. I heard it was created for the testers and was accidentally never removed. That could only be true for the original gradius, as it was obviously included in their other games purposefully. Either way, its a cheat code. It's been around for 20 years, never have I heard of it referred to as a feature, it has always been a cheat code.
I think because "cheat code" sounds much cooler to say. It gives the impression of a cheat. It is coded into a the game, whether it's a feature or a cheat, I'll never know. All I know is I heard it was programmed into a game, due to the game's difficulty - so the testers could make it further into the game to ensure of the game's quality. I don't know if it was not removed by accident or not - I remember reading about the execs made the decision to leave it due to the internal testers difficulty.- I was where I always am my friend only a pm away. Here's my take on that. In this type of game it's only a "cheat" if you believe it to be a cheat cause it affects no one but yourself. In games such as super Mario I always beat it straight up first. But then I like to play around with games so I have turtle tipped and put in codes. Though I have never used a game shark.
- skollthewolfRising NoviceIn terms of these games, using an outside device or program to personally manipulate the coding of the game is cheating. However, taking advantage of a loophole in the existing code should be fair game.
- I voted no, but it depends on what the glitch does, i think the glitches what we have now are not that bad...

These stacking "glitches" have been in the game long enough that EA could have removed them if they saw a problem. They don't lose EA any money, so I see no real or ethical problem with utilizing them. Hacking and cheating to get donuts is a different story and is cheating.
Hacking is cheating yes
but if there is a glitch that is in game that can give you free donuts why is that wrong.
where is the line drawn?
using the tile glitch give you lots of XP which gives you donuts as well.
The line is drawn at actively manipulating the code of the game to get donuts. Anything that happens within the game through no fault of your own due to apathy, error, or by EA's design is perfectly legit as far as I'm concerned.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
+1 - yes it is anytime you take advantage of a in game glitch it's cheating even if the company making the game hasn't fixed it in a long time. You are racking up cash and xp which can be used to get 3 doughnuts every time you reach the level cap at 38 (which you will get much faster then anyone playing normally).
so technically yes it's a cheat, it's not in the same ball park as modding the game to give you unlimited doughnuts but it's still abusing a glitch and thus still a cheat.
judging by the poll results there are a lot of cheaters here :D Leilani2013 wrote:
With all this talk about cheat codes, I'm waiting for someone to suggest up, up, down, down, left, right..........
did you read the whole thread
most of it is talking about that codecoookies58 wrote:

Agree 100%. There's a big difference between taking advantage of a so-called "glitch" and actively hacking a game.
Besides, I don't think it's clear the glitch IS a glitch - if it's a coding goof, why haven't they fixed it? They've had months to do so...baddazoner wrote:

Not even kinda true. People buying multiple weather stations will do it much faster. Yes they will be spending in game money to do it but they are still getting Xp and donuts faster than the normal player. I quoted only this section because this is the only part I disagree with. As I stated it is a single player game so it is cheating if that single player feels it is.
