- Based on the odds as posted in TSTO Tips, my calculation is that over time any of the betting options will result in a profit/try of about $1030. The long shot is slightly better, $1040, but not enough to matter. The XP numbers are pretty close too. On average, each try will produce around 63 XP, regardless of which one you pick. The long shot is a little lower, 57 XP, and the third and fourth options are a little higher, 65 XP, but the take home message is the Springfield downs gives you around $1030 and 63 XP per visit on average regardless of which dog you pick.

Now is the best time to bet at the Downs , go , go , go.
What right now? Or am i too late? http://i.imgur.com/1wc01R2.gif- There's a race track close to the town I live in. There's also a pretty big waterfall.
- Yep, guaranteed to work every time
First place bet on the one that wins you the most
Then lose
Continue in this way
Works every time
Sorry I'm just mad that I've never one the jackpot, not once and I bet every day. - so here is an example I usually bet on the first dog no matter who it is. I have won 3 times in a row now and my past experience has shown me don't bet on the first dog to win for the 4th time so I have picked the 2nd and 3rd dog and have had mixed results didn't know if others have noticed anything like this...will post results when able...if somebody took the time to pay attention to the payouts and who won and stuff like that I feel like there has to be a patter somewhere
- Indys2ndRetired HeroOnly dog I ever win with is the first one. The only dog I'm guaranteed to lose with is the last one. Seems like he's there so I can give $2000 in game cash back to EA.

I bet on the long shot.... It's paid out once since the cost reduced.
Law of averages states I'm about due another win
I've been thinking the same for the past two weeks but still havent won again - Well, that is a difficult question to answer!! With 5 dogs there are 120 possible race combinations, so determining if there is a pattern to the madness would be difficult. A computer generated race/outcome would probably be repeated multiple times before you could ever see all 120 combinations. I would just note the outcome of races with higher payoffs and try to play those odds again if that particular combo ever repeats itself. That's a big IF!!! Good luck!
- for me when either dogbiscuit or drool britannia wins a race, the next time i bet it's usually the other 3.

Gaythomson's numbers support Bleebrick's statement.
This is much better information than what I had gathered on my own, which was "Always bet on the 5-to-1. Win....sometimes. Yay!" :D
