Finally joined the boards been playing since Halloween 12', I don't get why people feel the need to judge others on how they build their towns. I think it's silly to spend money ok characters that you don't know where they are... I don't use roads I want to see all my towns people at my squidport boardwalk , is that make me a tool or?? I have 2 brown houses I don't farm that way. My point is as long as someone is a good neighbor what's the big deal on how their Springfield is laid out??
Someone can be a good neighbor all they want, but if their house farm is so freakin' large that it crashes my game every time I try to visit their town because of the lag, then I can't keep them as a friend, as it is pointless.
So, yes, it does matter how a town is laid out whether you are a friend or not.
And I know how it feels to tap the last tile handshake, it sucks!! Especially to be over the limit to build, but under the number needed to come anywhere close to covering the water. Good thing they are adding so much watercraft!bradyc79 wrote:

Ahhhh yes, the house farmers. When I see a level 37 player with most of their land covered in mammoth sized house farms and 50 Kwik e marts and another 50 Gulp and Blows and their "town" is all crammed into a corner... Yet they get a five star ranking I want to scream. I have one of these as a neighbor. Every time I think I will get rid of him, he visits my town... So I feel like I can't justify axing him. He never visits the forum and his Squidport is about 14 tiles with everything crammed onto that tiny deck... I've never even tried looking at his Krustyland ... Yikes. I wish I could send him a message but what's the point?- I need to delete some inactive folks from my friends list, and have just been putting it off waiting for the Christmas update. I've got a few where I still hear the haunting, otherworldly cries of the gremlin upon entering their towns.
I waited a long time after the Halloween update to make the final cuts of those not participating, but won't wait that long this time. I just hesitate to delete folks without having someone else to take their places lined up. Of course, now that I'm a forum member (no longer a shadowy, lurking figure) I suppose some of that can be avoided with PMs. :-)
I have a house farm, but keep moving it further away from the rest of my (very much under-construction) town. One day, I'll get rid of it completely. The only time house farms bother me is when they're in the LZ, making it hard to navigate without hitting one accidentally.
I visit daily & try my best to be a good neighbor. :D I feel VERY fortunate to have a number of AWESOME forum members as neighbors. xoxo - I rarely tap on Kwik E marts or brown houses but if I do its because there was nothing else to tap on.
- I agree about the SIZE of the house farms. If I have 100 friends, I want to VISIT 100 friends. At least every other day, if not daily (OCD?) But the lag and crashing....that is too much. I also enjoy looking at my neighbor's towns, but if the farm is in the lz, I just don't bother. Usually I accidentally tap a house or 3 trying to navigate, then just leave. Small house farms not affecting game play don't bother me.
- I will only delete neighbors if there is evidence to suggest they have ditched the game permenantly or if they have just appeared on my friend list (I'm not sure if anyone else has experienced this but I often have new people on my list without me even getting a friend request)

Weird....maybe they're existing friends who have changed their game username? mwdalton wrote:

I thought so too at first but then I started paying attention and they were just brand new towns I hadn't seen before, usually lower levels. It went through a stage where I was getting about 3 a week.. A little annoying - I currently have 100 neighbors and make a point to visit each and every one of them every day (only tapping the "undesirable" buildings if that's all there is available at the time of my visit, which is rare but does happen). Sometimes I revisit a few, just to look around a bit more at the towns that have nice looking layouts. I tend to put my citizens on hourly tasks during the day, only setting them on longer ones if a quest requires it or it's time for sleep.
I realize though that not everyone has the luxury of making that sort of "commitment" to the game, so I wouldn't necessarily axe a neighbor if they don't visit me every day, but it would certainly be grand if they tried to visit as often as they are able.
I think I have only removed about 6 in total so far, quickly replacing them with new folks who'd been patiently sitting on my "waiting for approval" list. As for my criteria for axing a neighbor, many factors are taken into consideration when making that sort of decision.
Have they visited at least once in the past week? While I don't expect neighbors to visit daily like I do, I think it reasonable that they put at least some kind of effort to visit a minimum of once a week.
Are their citizens working? Townsfolk engaged in tasks = active neighbor. If most or all of a neighbor's citizens are just aimlessly wandering the streets most of the time, that's a red flag to me.
Does their town crash my device? While I've yet to encounter this problem, it is definitely something that would be a "deal breaker".
Has their town been updated? The upcoming Christmas update will be my first full event (I started playing at the tail-end of the Thanksgiving bit), but as suggested by others, if I see a neighbor still lacks snow about a week into the Christmas event, I think it fair to bid them goodbye and welcome a new friend into the fold.
Other than that, I don't mind house farms or little to no clear city planning or oddball usernames, etc. I figure as long as we help each other out in some form or fashion through visitation, I can look past the rest. - i just got rid of about 50 people that i haven't seen in my town since Halloween (some of them still had gremlin noises when i visited). that's usually my main criteria: if i haven't seen you in a while, you go away. also the towns that just take forever to load :/
