OT Electronic cigarettes

I started smoking E-Cigs in January and have been smoke free since. Heck I barely even use it anymore.. A great alternative to smoking and an even better way to quit.

But I disagree about it being sold to minors, the goal is to get rid of the idea of smoking all together. Unless you mean kids who get pressured into smoking and want to be able to quit.

Thats what I am talking about. If I found out my 16 year old was already hooked on smoking I should be able to offer them this alternative legally since there is nothing in these things that are being regulated by any government agency. If the issue is that it simulates smoking so does candy cigarettes and I was doing those at 5 years old

BTW There is NO way to get rid of the idea of smoking as long as there are smokers.

BTW 2 I quit 12 years ago

Its ridiculous that they are not sold to minors( Ones without nicotine) It is a stupid electronic device that resembles a cigarette with no drugs of any type in them IE: tar and nicotine.

If I had teenagers I would prefer they use these than real cigarettes (which they will get any way legal or not) I myself started smoking when I was in high school.

Ima go tell on you!!! You know what they say, "Puff & Duff!"
"I'm here to tell you about drugs and alcohol and why they're bad, m'kay? So, first of all, uh, smokin's bad. You shouldn't smoke. And, uh, alcohol is bad. You shouldn't drink alcohol. And, uh, as for drugs, well, drugs are bad. You shouldn't do drugs. Okay, that about wraps up my introduction, now uh, are there any questions?”
Yes smoking is bad but breathing in water vapor is not.
  • The way I feel on this subject is kids who will smoke will smoke no matter what we do. These devices should be available to them as an alternative. At least until smoking is eliminated from society 100%.

  • October 6, 2013 will be three years since I quit smoking. I could never have done it without e-cigs. I still use mine everyday, but I HAVE NOT had a single real cigarette in the whole time since I quit.

I understand the argument, and agree with it, but realistically what sixteen YO is going to want to quit smoking? I was 19 going on 20 before I realised that smoking isn't for making you look cool, and many of my friends now don't seem to grasp the concept of just how bad it is for you as you get older. Developmentally at 16 years the brain hasn't got the capacity to realise the later life consequences in the same way as an adult mind does. Many teens who are caught smoking will pull the "but I want to quit" line. But that's rarely true. Truth is they just want mum/dad to stop being so hard on them about smoking, which at that age is cool. Nuff said 8)
i agree with you 100% but why deny them a safer alternative
  • I use an electronic 'hookah' which is the same concept but with flavors.

I also use an oil pen for hash. Does that count?

Sure.... Kids wouldn't abuse this by purchasing bottles of concentrated nicotine to brew their own juice at home. Kids are already abusing stimulants *cough* ADHD meds *cough*, and you think they wouldn't game the system for a nicotine?

You want harmless cigarette-look-alikes so your kid can look cool? Well this store sells them, and they worked for me back in the 5th grade. ;)

    Love the e-cig topic!

I smoked cigs for a very long time.. Think I came out of my mom with a cig in my hand.
Several years ago, I was really feeling it in my chest. A constant pain/discomfort. But I really enjoy smoking, I am what I call a true smoker, not simply a social smokers. Social smokers can stop when they want, but if you are a true smoker... Its a whole other story.

So about 3 years ago it became very real to me that if I don't do something, this is going to kill me. That is when I started to look into E Cigs. From my research I found "white cloud" aka "Cirrus" to be the best for a true smoke to switch over as some of the other brands.. I don't know what it is, but people seem to go back to cigarettes. I have been an E-Cig fan for 3 years now, no more chest pains, no more sucking in all the tar and carcinogenics (cancer causing chemicals), and have helped numerous coworkers and friends (long time smokers) make the transition and my hubby and even some strangers that come and ask me about it too. Not only health wise am I happy about this life choice I made, but my hubby and I save sooo much money (especially because we were American Spirit smokers), my hands no longer smell gross, with e cigs I can smoke in my car, in the house... The list of benefits go on and on. My work even let's me use it at my desk. It is so funny how many people at my work now smoke at their desk... Productions up, lol.

Yes... I am a very big fan. :)

And though, I didn't go to e-cigs to quit, it definitely would be easier fo me to do it now than then.
Tip: if you are a true smoker at about a pack a day start with extra nicotine one, then work down to regular. I found this helped me to stick to it the first month. Now I can smoke the light or regular just fine.

As for minors having access, I believe the laws make sense as they are for and in relation to what it represents (habit of smoking) which is dangerous. And truth be told, if minors want to smoke... Like we did when we were underage they will figure out a way to do it.. So at that point they can also make that choice it is going to be a cig or an e-cig.

It's similar for me, I went to e-cigs originally because I could no longer afford real cigarettes. New York has some of the highest taxes in the country when it comes to cigarettes. And it was really important that it feel like I was still smoking a real cigarette, or it wouldn't have worked for me. I still loved smoking. October 6th of this year will be 3 years exactly since I've had a real cigarette. But it is kind of funny that I smoked non-menthol as a smoker, but had to switch to menthol for the e-cig. I tried the regular flavor first, but it had this steamy taste I couldn't deal with. The menthol flavoring covered it right up. Green Smoke is my brand. It's a tiny bit more expensive, but I'm still using my original long battery. It's still charging well, going on 3 years now. I've tried some other brands but haven't found any as good as what I got. There really is a big difference in brands.

    Sherry..

This is kind of funny.. Check it out Oct 2010 is when I did the switch and I was a non-menthol smoker, but with the e-cigs the mint/menthol flavor is my favorite and the flavor I buy.

Hmmm... Get out of my head. ;)

It's around the time they passed the PACT Act; making it illegal to send cigarettes through the mail.

Last month I bought the Blu E-Cig starter kit. I'm still going back and forth between it and my regular cigs. Can't seem to make the full transition yet. They are definitely cheaper.

I tried their disposable one. Didn't really like it.
  • I rekin there crap, I've brought a few different ones thinking one might work better than the other and nope. I find myself basically takin drags that big that I almost go blue in the face, as iam after that heavy tobacco feeling as you inhale, and found that I would puff on it all the time, instead of one ciggy every hour or so and I would have a ciggy afterwards anyway as from the EC I was craving a real smoke as this EC just tempted me even more for the real thing. So in my case no,it failed miserably but congrats to the people it has helped.
