Ridiculous Hitboxes

Welcome to the forum!

Yeah, it is not working well for me either. I think it must be from when the screens were really small. So the code was written to try to predict what you wanted to tap next. Like the editor does.

And because of the lag, I've had to slow up my tapping so I don't accidentally do something I don't intend.

  • I would think they could have programmed in some sort of tapping priority (and, in fact, they may have done so) so that they can set certain things to be preferentially tapped before others. For example, you have to clear earnings before you can tap a house that they are sitting on top of. Surely they could just say that the most important thing to tap is the FT and then the nightmares and so on. Would make things a lot less frustrating IMO.
  • On the plus side, I've learned my FT favorite routes off my road area (I effectively have a screen full of road, below my LZ, for my own and neighbors' sanity...) so I can just pan to where they're likely to go and then tap them. If it doesn't work, FL and back!

And while the IRS building sucks a bit for the expanded tapping (hence my campfire not being in the middle of the road area), it does make the rest of the event easier. Take out 6 snakes and 4 finished characters at once? OK!

My suggestion is to try replacing all of your roads aside from an easily-tappable good-sized section with pavement for the duration of the event (it'll make your outside tasks and nightmares easier to deal with, and provide a known place for your terrors to spawn) and to make sure your IRS building works. (Also, keep your road area near your campfire and it appears that it's best to keep it touching your Squidport.)

Remember, if you scroll less, you'll lag less AND tap fewer things you don't want to! :D

I had no idea how to search for this so sorry if it's been posted before but I just had to vent somewhere ha ha, anyway I consider myself to be a fairly good all round gamer, able to play on any platform from snes to mobile, so why the f do I tap a snake and tapped out decides I actually dont want to tap the snake, I want to tap on the brown house at the very bottom corner of the screen or one of the Bouvier sisters for the 15th time today. It's infuriating.

Thanks to the frankly shoddy and terrible way the tapping is handled my town is a dystopian semi-barren wasteland populated by kids, a fat bloke and a real estate broker (shudder). I even gave up 70+ says of growing corn just to make tapping the snakes and other halloween horrors easier as I had got fed up with tapping on the screen and being told I had 70 plus days of growing corn. Would a simple if statement somewhere in the code that says if theres a big update then prioritise the things we have to tap, rather then the surrounding buildings. I would write one in psudocode if I thought it would do any good.

    You're kidding no?

This is intentional. The hierarchy of the critters is set lower than the buildings. It's like this with almost every event. They want us to be in a tapping frenzy.

Not everything is done to cater to the whims of the user. They want some level of frustration to make it compelling.

Try to tap only over pavement not over buildings in the background. Find a spot in your neighborhood that is wide open and wait there, rather than chasing them through houses.

Find a way to adapt and overcome, rather than wait for the world to be tailored to your personal preferences. Then you find joy in success rather than waiting for what may never come.
