Actually, I had to do this in one of my towns. I had no idea at first that a basket could not be stored, and stupid me took it out. It was a feeder, and a friend is linked to it so I can feed her. I didn't want her to think I expected her to donate eggs, so had to hide the basket. I put it behind Costingtons. It wasn't until I visited from my main town that I realized just how that could make things worse.

These are impossible to hide once they're out of storage.

I would not assume that was a ruse to get a tap. I would assume they were trying not to.

Ah I see. :) Thanks for the insight, otherwise I would never have known. I have feeder towns as well and had also mistakenly put out baskets. What I do with them now is hide them in the farthest corner possible and try to make it look abandoned in a empty 'lot'.
