I could easily be mistaken, but I think the elves give 2 or 3 gift cards at each decorated house

Ah, that makes sense.

I was wondering who out there has the most elf houses running, and if there's a lower take each time as you raise the number of houses. If not, then it might be tied to lights. If so, then it might be these hopelessly lost presents like you were seeing.

That's interesting.

I've never let them go on a big batch yet, because I'm trying to be careful about noting which of my neighbors are sending gift bags. But I think I could dig out the gift bags first, and just let the elves go to town on the presents and see how it goes.

It wouldn't be super-scientific since I haven't really been keeping track, bit I could at least get a feel for it, I would think.

Throughout my tests (I have 40 elf houses) I have discovered this...

1. Elf's will find gift bags that friends dropped off that you missed.
2. With each elf house release you will receive approx 5 gift bags to gift to others. (Regardless of if you have missed presents in your town or not)
3. You will also receive 50+ Gift Cards each time you release elves. (Regardless of if you have missed presents in your town or not)

The Elves that spawn will go after presents first then they will go to Homes. I am not sure that they need to be decorated just be a Home. Each elf can only visit a maximum of 9 Homes. 85% chance for 3 Gift Cards 15% Chance for 6 Gift Cards for a home visit.
