I would contact them again. Tell them you went to the tapped out forum and the official answer was donuts restored. Tell them you got the info from a moderator and that the moderator was told this is what would happen. But be nice. They said they saw the post on the forum and it's incorrect.
I asked why some users are getting their donuts back but not me, and his reply was:

EDIT: message sent that you're not getting you're donuts back.- Im on with the chat support right now and he has told me the issues are coming from the extra land added. Waiting to see if they are going to credit my donuts.

After I posted that message, I kept talking to the support guy. He said the following:
- if they issued donuts back now /and/ the next patched refunded donuts, we would be getting double donuts, which wouldn't be fair to others, and
- if the bug is still there, I'll just end up losing the new donuts anyway...
THEN the support person did issue my donuts back. I'm not sure why, but I have them back!! He was very nice, asked me to log out and back in, and there they were!
