There were (at least) two parts to that bug. The first was the initial issue of how the Dog Park could reset the Scratch Ticket. The second was that once you went negative, there was nothing stopping you from going FURTHER negative.
We don't know what actually was happening in the code either. It could've been a conglomeration of issues considering how very specific the conditions were.
I've had "simple" defects turn into a month of research and development. Because we start looking into the first problem, and once we open the hood we realize there's more than that just going on.
But weren't "Harpies" a much longer lasting problem? And we're still seeing some issues with textures and dual-character tasks.
Considering this was a defect that was costing them money, I can only assume that there was some significant pressure on the development team to resolve that as quickly as possible.
