- Easter wasn't even that bad. We got tonns of new characters and it took far less grinding than this one.

For me, CoC has made me almost stop playing. That's pretty much the opposite from what I want in a game. For Easter, while there were some frustrations, I was engaged the entire event because I was enjoying the game play and trying hard to get some prizes. That made it preferable for me.
I'm not a completionist so the fact that I did not "complete" the event and get every prize was ok for me. At the end, having received a few new buildings and characters made it worth it to me (even though there were a few more things I would have liked to have gotten). I'm not sure if there is a different response from people depending on what they ended up actually winning. It is clear that receiving prizes based on the element of chance was not popular with many people. But for me I'd prefer to be a little frustrated and very engaged to not caring about the game at all.monicaL9 wrote:
That's exactly how I feel, thank you. You're a lot better at putting it into words then I am :)
But I would rather have an event then no event at all. Free stuff is free stuff and I will gladly take it but that doesn't necessarily mean I have to like it either.
I am joining jraffa50 and monicaL9 in these sentiments.
I will go a little further in stating unequivocally that a dozen Easter '14s are preferable to a single CoC.neuroheart wrote:
Even "metaphorical" screaming and wanting to break your device (which I do relate to) seems like more cause for hate than simply not being terribly interested.
That's backwards to me. As best I can express at the moment, please consider the following premises:
- I am only interested in what keeps my interest.
- Overcoming a frustration is incredibly satisfying.
- Things that do not interest me are encouraged to spend a whole lot less effort trying to make me interested, to the benefit of all concerned.urlaub694 wrote:

I think we weren't playing the same event. I'm curious about your metrics, here. Tons of new characters? Most players got one, if they were lucky. Many of my neighbors got zero. Less grinding? What the actual fudgesicle? I can play this event a couple times a day and get enough currency for pretty much whatever I want. I played Easter six (or more) times per day, and often didn't get enough for one lousy box. :| (my experience was far from unique.)sizzlefork wrote:

Raise your hand if your frustration with Easter will never be "overcome. " (Because it's literally impossible to achieve your Easter goals, particularly now that it's over.)neuroheart wrote:

If I remember rightly we had to collect 50 fence panels and I got around 45 or so and the event ended - hmmm. As far as new characters regarding the Easter event, there were about 6 available, I think -not all playable.
Playable - Hugs Bunny, Sherry Bobbins, Father Sean
Non-playable - Chirpy Boy and Bart Jr., Guy in Egg Suit, mutated flying Bunny.
(I think that's all of them).
But neuroheart is right - you had to be extremely lucky to land on them, or on the buildings - this made it extremely difficult to get the stuff you wanted (I think I got about 20 Easter Ponds...). It was really frustrating at times. I caved and spent donuts to bolster my chances, which I suppose is what EA wanted. No more wheels please, EA. They really just make people angry. suetopia wrote:

Making the egg council guy a playable stonecutter could have bought some good will. ('Course, if he was playable, I probably wouldn't have won him. I know a lot of folks didn't win him anyway.)neuroheart wrote:

That would have been a good idea.- Don't understand the hate towards easter. Easily the most enjoyable event in the last two years for mee. Best prizes, most fun currency, good quest line.. Objectively speaking it was very good. People who are negative just can not stand to not have won everything.

There are players who did win everything, and are still negative. (At least one of them has already posted in this thread.) Your postulation is flawed.Wijsheid wrote:

I agree about the prizes - the were pretty good. I think the frustration comes from the mechanism awarding the prizes - The three wheels. I managed to get everything, some stuff through amazing luck and some because I spent my donuts to up my odds/have more chances on the wheels.
Even though I got everything, I found the wheels to be extremely frustrating. I can imagine it was 10x more frustrating to those who saw something they really wanted to have (maybe just because they loved the item or the character) and kept landing on Easter Trees or Easter Ponds. PRIZES for an event should be something everyone has a chance of winning, not just for those who have donuts they can spend (and can't really afford in the first place...).
If one spends donuts, it should be for a premium item., not because they feel it is their only chance to get something that EA has listed as a prize.
EDIT: I just wanted to add that with this event EA made the prizes not only attainable for the players but have given everyone ample time to get the prizes - I think that is a sign that they took into account what people were saying about having to grind to get the prizes/the prizes being nearly impossible to get. I think they should be given credit for listening.
