Anything over 100ms ping is unplayable; you simply can't improve your timing for certain moves and grappling transitions if the latency is that high and constantly fluctuating. In standard MMA online modes, it’s easy to back out on the selection screen because you have a reasonable amount of time while choosing characters. However, you can’t do this as easily in Online Career Mode.
To avoid this, the solution is simple: set up a connection killswitch within arm’s reach of your seat. An easy way to do this is to use an Ethernet connection through a nearby patch panel. If you see a ping over 100ms during the CAF transition, just pull the cable before the match loads. This eliminates the frustration of playing against laggy Wi-Fi users. While you could technically 'train' yourself to navigate the PS5 restart option like a combo, you apparently—so they say—still run the risk of being banned for 'game evasion' if you aren’t fast enough.
The killswitch method is safer and easier, but it must be done on the character selection or pre-fight emote screen. By doing it then, no one loses points, gets a 'W', or takes an 'L'—no harm, no foul. EA should have given us this option, but they didn’t. While using a killswitch mid-game should be flagged as cheating, I’m not sure if EA UFC 5 has actually taken action against lag-switchers, despite claiming they would. Was your experience a one-off, or have you been warned before for the same thing? A straight-up ban seems unlikely without prior warnings. Ultimately, disconnecting mid-game should result in an automatic DNF 'L' for the person who leaves and a 'W' for the person who stays. I would like to know more about your situation if you care to share, as something seems off. kind regards
