Re: EA SPORTS™ WRC - Patch 1.4.0 Discussion Thread

@ScarDuck14Sry, my bad... Well, yeah, if you look at it that way, yes, the timing is wrong for us.

Didn't mean to be rude in any way. Just very frustrating.

First of all... I got every single "official" rally game since "World Rally Championship" - PS2 2001. And most not so "offical" games - Dirt, Dirt Rally, RBR, Sebastien Loeb Rally, Colin McRae rallys... "WRC Generations" was first WRC I missed - just becouse I heared, that Codemasters got licence and will release new WRC games, I was sooooooooo hopeful - Dirt Rally was absolutely amazing! I was sure, that then Dirt Rally was made without official support from FIA and WRC Promotor and it was almost "perfect", then it's worth for waiting new WRC game. I even planned to invest in new wheel - Fanatec ClubSport DD+. Not only for WRC, but also for GT7, but still - proper WRC game with Fanatec direct drive wheel - what can go wrong?

And now... Instead upgrading my rig I think of finishing with simracing forever... ☹️ Sooo disappointed. ☹️

I think I'll keep an eye for updates, but there's no hope anymore. Deleted game from PS5 today.
And as I said before - I don't believe that the next version will be much better - if half the time that should be spent on developing a new game is actually spent on fixing the bugs of the old game, then there is nothing good to hope for in the new version either.

Sorry guys, but simracing (and rally in particular has been my all-time favorite, although I also drive circuit and formula simulators) is not fun anymore...

I have given up. ☹️

@Toy4584 Dude it’s all good. I get the frustrations and as and I’m ever present and always post obscene amounts. Players need to vent but ideally need to vent at an actual human EA representative to get their point across and also get a response specific to them and not the same old generic responses. Which isnt the fault of the CMs but I dare say it’s a directive from the legal department. So on seeing my little EA champion badge gets people’s attention then seeing “volunteer” often think I’m a EA simp and I get it. How could any real gamer suck up to EA. So not a week goes by that someone vents or throws abuse my way. Genuinely the reason I’m always here other than illness keeps me pretty much housebound. Is because I’m sick off how most games are released and how the Only games feature that always works perfectly is games store. (Although credit to Codemasters on just adding the £5 season pass and not going overboard. ). So F1 is my game off choice and as I put up to a 1000 hours a year in the games I know them inside out so on those game especially I try and like helping other players. Which is why despite many critical posts about the game and EA. They decided I was “champion” material. And as they say best way to make change is from the inside. I’m far from the inside but I got my toe in the door and I do shout loudly.

But like you with rally I’m the same with F1 and where you’ve given up and deleted WRC. I suffered and endured 350 hours on F1 23 most of the time trying to find workarounds for its endless issues. But in past years the games problems were just due to bugs. This year the games problem is it’s really really bad game

But as a EA simp I was gifted WRC and it’s my first ever rally game and I’ve was absolutely loving it and been a decade since I enjoyed a game so much. But I’ve got a ps5 and patch 1.40 dropped😔

As a rule and I’ve stated many times if I buy a new game it’s at least 3 months old. On sale and often half price and most of the biggest issues have been fixed. Winner winner chicken dinner. If we gamers did that on mass. We wouldn’t have game’s released in the state they currently are.

I don’t blame the dev team. Or any CMs here. I know them and i know they do care. But corporate greed and those at the top will only start giving dev teams the time and resources they need when new release sales fail to hit their margins.

    Completely understand You...

Problem is in today's gaming industry.

Glad I didn't buy F1 2023 then - F1 is next fav after rally for me and I have almost every F1 game since 2010. Hoped that F1 2023 will be with PSVR2 support - and if that was clear that there will not be PSVR2 support, I decided to miss 2023 version.

I know that devs at CM work hard and they want best. But... For me enough is enough... I'm going to pull the plug and stop doing racing simulators altogether. I guess EA WRC was the last straw in the cup of patience.

Not fun anymore. Sad. Really sad.

@ScarDuck14 Its a really good rally game once everything is dialed in though the lazy driver/ hdw support and optimisation is just unacceptable.Who the hell is in charge of QC? Where are the responsibilities to the players who pay full price for an uncompleted product?

@Sokittoya76A I miss the days when buying a physical copy of a game came with a manuals up to 500 pages long.

It’s far easier and cheaper to let the YouTube sweats figure beat settings and setups then post ‘Best settings’ videos. Problem with that is there’s alot of click bait YouTubers that just want be famous on the internet. However there are also a lot of genuine enthusiasts want to help players. Then if you can find them. Maybe you’ll stumble upon the few A-liens channels that do know what they are talking about. But even still as all settings and setups are personal thing. I find it best to lean towards the channels that share similar idea to my own on the game.

I stumbled upon this guy and found him helpful. https://m.youtube.com/@skyrex2465

I think the fired most of their QC.

  • Now with the holidays out of the way until march I have a feeling we get a little update on the matter

I'll still need some performance fixes and a slight pretty-up for the game. The cars look great, but the environment could be more cohesive in brightness and the motion blur was better in pretty much every Ego engine entry of the series save for the original DiRT. Proper rotational blur for the wheels and a pleasing blur effect on passing scenery, going all the way back to Race Driver GRID, and its missing in EA SPORTS WRC.

Im on a 10400f with 32 gigs of ram and a RX7800XT and if I lock FPS to 60, my lows will be in the mid 30s to mid 40s on ultra settings. Nothing is fully utilized unless I went 4k, where i get the same FPS. Please optimize and improve the shadows and reflections

  • Well we getting close to mid January so it’s time for a update on the matter about the career mode bug (I got this game for Christmas)

Codies, before a release the patch, check please whats going on with Quickplay solo mode. I lost twice my save profil (message - save file is corrupted) and I'm afraid to play this mode. I dont know what is the reason for wpied of all data. First time i restarted the ride, after 3 weeks i changed setting in option, then save file was corrupted. In other game mode I didn't have this issue.

I described this problem here, but no feedback

    Agreed.

I bought the game on launch (pre-launch?) and played in my Career a little every day - up until the patch broke it (on PS5). Now I only pop in every few days to run some Clubs then go play other things.

I was half way through my second season and don't feel like starting over. I had to put a lot of effort into "manually" going week-by-week through the calendar to decide which events I could run and plan my activities out on paper since the in-game/UI doesn't really allow for that. Something I really really want them to address. But until they do that - I just want to be able to continue my career.

    Thanks

Don’t mind having to wait abit longer provided they are rigorously testing every which way so the patch doesn’t make things worse.  Just about every   F1 23 patch this year made things worse.   F1 community have come  to dread game updates 🙄🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree, I don't want to have another similar issue when I resume playing the game. Proper pre-release testing is a must.
  • agree, but is so difficult for a developer to write a few words about progress and cut through the speculations? Hotfix is already called cold fix on forums.

I guess not. But I would rather expect regular updates from EA guys who get updates from developers. Why to bother developers when they for sure share progress updates with EA personnel internally. So EA should pass it on us.

Boys and girls. Do yourself a favor - delete the game. I did so and much calmer.

Well, nothing will come of it until the new, 2024 version is out. Although, to be honest - there is nothing to expect from there either - if the development team is busy correcting the bugs of the old version half a year after the release of the game, then it is simply not possible to engage in the development of the new version.
