Looking more beautiful - doesn't mean more realistic.
From the video and my personal experience DR 2.0 looks more beautiful in some aspects like car reflections, rain on the window shield, paddles on the road. But I always had a feeling that it looks too good comparing to real life. In EA WRC the picture is more calm and in general more realistic.
But yes, some aspects look really bad.
My personal worst:
- Rain on the window shield. For now the worst rain in racing games I ever saw.
- Road surface (the looks, not the feel). Steady regression staring from DR 2015. Excuses that it was done for dynamic degradation is pointless. It is possible to make it better and keep dynamic degradation. Just need to put some more work into it. And we need real water paddles.
- Road sides. Especially transition from hill side rocks and dirt with the road. It looks very very old and lazy made. Looks like the trucks for the game were done very in a hurry and miss a lot of little details that mask these imperfections in previous tittles.
And these things do need fixing (though I have little hope for that).
As for the car reflections that a lot of people wine here. I feel the opposite. Less reflections are actually better and more realistic. Go to any race car exhibition and look at the cars. They never shine as they used to shine in DR. Even new cars, let alone historic one. Race car is a consumable. Nobody will waste time and expensive colors even for the best livery as it will be totally destroyed in the 1st race.
@T16R0NI can completely see what you’re saying. Maybe in a way, dirt rally can look a little cartoony/vibrant.
The snow in EA wrc is horrendous!
It’s just 50 white dots strobing on and off on the screen. Dreadful.
