Considering that I cant do Dirt Rally 2.0 in VR at max graphics to get constant 90 fps on a valve index with a 2080 Ti (and the GPU in a PS5 is weaker) + that WRC will run on a new engine with probably much improved graphics I worry hard about the VR performance even on a gaming PC.
The PS5 struggles already with current PSVR2 games.
I assume the PS5 hardware would be too weak to handle WRC in a PSVR2. Thats probably why.

Devs of vr games on ue5 say psvr2 and PS5 perform around 10% better than pcvr with a 3090ti card.
And on top of that they can use the eyetracked foveated rendering, saving up towards 3x the resources.
So far I haven't seen a single psvr2 game struggle with performance.

Because the games lower graphics to make it not struggle.
e.g. Horizon Dawn uses Motion Smoothing which causes Ghosting though.
Some also use lower resolution, or lower quality textures etc. If you check VR Channels like MRTV, NewVRTech etc, you will get a lof of info and deeper analysis how the PS5 very much struggles with VR and the devs have to improvise to make it smooth. The PSVR2 isnt a pimax crystal, but it could look better if the PS5 wouldnt have performance issues

Agreed, don't think hardware is the issue here, PD's GT7 manage respectable fps on PSVR2 and proved the experience is a must for serious players. The two dirt tracks in GT7 makes you wonder what it'd be like if PD were to enter the rally or F1 game market, certainly be seeing some hustling over at EA / Codemaster, I'd be down for that in a heart beat! EA / Codemaster has been resting on their laurels for too long I feel, abit like Nokia in the phone industry then all the sudden Apple wiped the entire industry clean with the one iPhone.
Perhaps EA / CM will release an update for WRC with VR2 support down the road, but until then the majority of us who's experience PSVR2 will likely never be able to go back and skip until the next VR title comes along.

Well that's the main issue. The performance and quality the developer wants to deliver is not in sync with the current main hardware.
Let's say you have 3080TI running VR @90fps on a PC without any issues. Next year EA sports says the new version only supports VR on a 4080TI with at least 120fps, Are you gonna buy a new pc for that? No way.
You say, give me 90fps for a 3080TI.
So maybe for consoles, just lower the quality a bit and make ik run for PSVR2
As you can read people still drive Dirt Rally VR with the PSVR, because that's the only option there is outside the PC version. If they accept that, I'm pretty sure WRC 2023 will be accepted in PSVR2 in whatever quality
