The idea would be good, to optimize the base game (engine) and update cars and tracks with DLCs
BUT with EA Anticheat (the kernel level spyware) it's a no buy for me.
EA has unilaterally changed the terms of the contract without any possibility of objection, thus depriving me and many others of the opportunity to use the paid game.
Yeah sad. The idea was great. The game engine not as bad as most make it out to be. There was room for good gaming for a couple of years. But since 1.9 I can't use the game neither on my laptop nor my SteamDeck, so it won't matter what their plan are from now on. It's been almost a month with no communication where they would not even acknowledge the issues. I guess it was my first EA game since Battlefield 3 and most likely my last as well, I should have known better. Trick me once...
I couldn't care less about the anticheat.
What I am keen to see:
1. A career mode that is not Groundhog Day. Every season should have new events in new stages with new cars and times of day.
2. A bit more suspension travel, especially visible in replays. Also sometimes the cars seem a bit slow in replays.
3. More detail and variation on track surfaces, and in some rallies in scenery detail (eg Pacifico).
4. Some traditional style liveries, I am not a fan of the modern computer generated splotches.
5. Lighting improvements esp the blown-out bits. But keep the overall realistic feel.

For me as a long-time simracer only a few things matter. WRC doesn't have to be an annual title. A well-functioning base game is important. No bugs, well-functioning online mode.
Then we can talk about DLC add-ons. You can get my money even a few times a year. Look how it works in Assetto Corsa Competizione. Learn from the best.
All we need are new stages (always more stages!).
And add epic classic cars that aren't there yet like Corolla WRC, Celica ST gr.A, all WRC cars 1.6l era (2011-2016) and the rest from 2017-2021.
See how old Richard Burns Rally is alive and well. And why?
Because enthusiasts keep improving still the same game and adding what the community expects.
There is no other way or shortcut...
