AMD build stutters, is there a fix?

I'm running a 7800X3D with a 7900XTX and 64gigs of ddr5. 49' 240hz .3ms response time monitor.

Fanatec GT pro 8nm FFB motor.

I listed the FFB because not sure what software is causing the issue.

Is there a fix for the stuttering, freezing, glitching, whatever you wanna call it, will there be a fix?

Have I missed the thread that contains the fix?

Will the update/expansion fix the issue?

Not sure I want to have to pay for an expansion if the game isn't playable.

I really want to play this game. It's pretty obvious with the amount of hours I have logged already, most of which was with an old build that I thought was creating the issues, turns out that is not the case. I'm so infuriated with this, I can't put it into words.

I have almost the same setup and also had stutters. Then I shutdown every unnessary process and it went away. My understanding is that some process during stage interrupts the game for a short period of time.

  • @Rizzo5850 Hey dude, similar setup (7950x3D & 7900 XTX). After the game released I had performance issues, especially with the default settings. Currently the game runs fine, so I'll just share the settings that work for my system. Maybe this works for you as well, idk:

My game is set to german so the setting names may be something else, but I'll list them chronologically :D

    Basic Graphics options:

    Resolution: Native (1440p for me)
    Display Mode: Full Screen
    Anti Aliasing Quality: Epic
    Vsync: off
    Anisotropic Filtering: 16x
    Menu Framerate: On
Upscaler: Off (I'm CPU bottlenecked so this doesnt improve performance for me)

    Graphic Options (Advanced):

    Preset: Ultra
Shadows: High (Ultra costs too much fps)
    Fog: On
    Particles: Ultra
    Weather: Ultra
    Crowd: Ultra
    Ground Textures: Ultra
    Trees: Ultra
    Dynamic Objects: Ultra

Car Reflexions: Very Low (Do not go higher than Low. This setting is broken in regards to performance. Switching from Very Low to Low already eats up 50 FPS for me. Above that even worse.)

    Post Processing; Ultra
Mirrors: Off (Causes fps drops for me when turned on)
    Skid Marks(?): On
    Track/Road(?): Ultra
    Textures: Ultra
    Shader: Ultra
    Motion Blur: off

Then in the AMD Radeon Software:
Set AMD FreeSync to AMD optimized
optional: Set Radeon chill to your Monitors refresh rate (e.g. Min: 144, Max: 144).

    TL;DR:
Try turning "Car Reflections" and "Mirrors" as low as possible /off and take a look at your FreeSync settings.

No idea if this helps but I hope so

  • @Rizzo5850 Could also be something completely unrelated. For example I had stutters in BF 2042 and it turned out the reason was Malwarebytes Ransomware Protection.

So maybe also check what other processes cause spikes in your hardware usage
  • @Kxmxtrxx Turning car reflections and mirrors to off/ultra low helped me, but also turning Anisotropic Filtering to OFF helped. And just to be sure, entering and exiting the basic graphics settings at the start of each stage helps too.
Waiting a couple minutes when entering a new location helps too, to let the shaders compile. It's become a bit of a ritual to get this game to work, but at least I can play now.
