cant accept invites?

me and my friend are TRYING to play this game cross platform between pc (me) and xbox series x (him) when we invite eachother, we see *xxx has invited you to a game* across the top of the screen but there is no way to actually accept the invite.

technical issues

    My brother and I found the solution in the same situation was to make the lobby public and switch it to private after we connected.
