Can't see my Steam friends in EA Racenet or game

I have my steam account linked but I can't see my steam friends I'm using the game through the EA launcher I can add them manually in racenet by finding out their racenet name and d Sending a frie...

I was but no longer am as i bought the game.  I am using the EA launcher version though.

Damn.

Well even though the ea version can be got cheaper im not gunna get it whilst its broken.
