I had the same problem with my handbrake. Everytime I moved my handbrake, I got the warning "device disconnected" or "deviced changed". It also detected 2 devices: my setup with handbrake and the same without handbrake.
The reason was the handbrake itself. If you open it there is a screw to adjust the spring. In my case I guess it got a little bit loose during playing, so that it was out of the range when in zero-position and the game detected it as disconnected. Whenever it was moved slightly, the game detected it as connected. In my case this happened also when switched a gear on the shifter which is mounted together with the handbrake. The movement of the shifter was enough to shake the handbrake that little bit to connect/disconnect. So, maybe turnung your wheel causes something similar...
My solution was to tighten the screw a little.
At least I recomment to calibrate all your fanatec devices using the fanatec software on your PC.
I didn't have such problem on any other game but it seems this game is not very tolerant if it is not calibrated 100% on fanatec side or maybe the range it is not mapped 100% correctly.
