FFB disabled on input device change or rest mode
Product: EA SPORTS™ WRC
Platform:PlayStation 5
Summarize your bug Force feedback ceases to function if the input device is temporarily removed or changed. Game needs to be restarted to get the FFB working again. Putting the game into rest mode cause the same issue, since the game seemingly doesn’t recognize the wheel during wake up.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? While EA WRC is running, unplug or power off the wheel. Then plug it back in / power on. Then test FFB, only to find that it no longer works. On some setups just unplugging and plugging in the pedals from the wheel base suffices.
What happens when the bug occurs? Force feedback no longer functions until you restart the game. Disabling and enabling Vibration from the in-game controller settings doesn’t help.
What do you expect to see? For the force feedback to continue working like it used to.
The issue is present with both the Thrustmaster T300 as well as Fanatec GT DD Pro, so I assume this to be an universal issue. Haven’t tested on other platforms than PS5 though.
When unplugging the handbrake from Fanatec, WRC considers the input device to be changed. And since this new input device wasn’t present on game start, FFB doesn’t work anymore either.
Using the PS5 rest mode also breaks FFB, although it can be circumvent by first holding the PS button to get to the main menu, and only then putting the console to rest. After waking up you can then press the PS button and choose your profile to connect the wheel before getting back into the game.
