Film grain effect on the road

I've had the same issue, the issue mainly arises when you have the lights on and where the light illuminates the road, it seems to be ok lighting up scenery but the road looks terrible and pixelated.

Summarize your bug It seems transparent objects are not occluded by any particle, which completely ruins the look of any replay on gravel or with any kind of fog. I cannot understate how bad this looks.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Basically everywhere, but if there is fog its even more obvious
What happens when the bug occurs? Every glass surface of the car cuts a hole through the dust, fog, rain or whatever.
What do you expect to see? Either a complete fix or some way to mitigate it.

I am playing the game at 1440p maxed out settings (Ultra preset with Reflections, Shadows and Mirrors changed from High to Ultra) using DLSS Quality and the road surface looks very grainy and overhead cables seem to be very jagged with a thick halo around them but only when playing darker stages with the car headlights on.

PC: i5-13600KF, 32 GB DDR4 3600, RTX 4080, Windows 11 Pro 23H2.

Game is installed to a 2 TB Samsung 980 Pro NVMe M.2 SSD and I am using the latest 546.01 graphics driver.

Yes, you are right. Increasing Anti-Aliasing to High actually reduced the sparkles a lot and didn't even cost me a lot of FPS on my setup (~ -10 FPS).

Also reducing Anisotroping filtering to x2 helped to reduce the effect even further.

Oppositely Upscalers like FSR or even temporal cause more artifacts on the road and they also don't boost FPS a lot (also ~ +10 FPS) no difference what setup you select.

So, the issue is still there and some optimization is needed.

Also, for those who are interested on my setup these are the Advanced setting that really impact the performance on RX 6800 XT

Shadows - not very much but visible. Reduced them to high.

Crowd - reduced to high. Traditional for CM games. In DR 2.0 it was also a performance killer.

Car reflections - reduced to high. Though doesn't actually cause a lot of issues, as car become dirty very fast and don't reflect anything.

Mirrors - reduced to medium. Strangely have lot of impact even when you don't see the mirrors.

Shaders - Reducing from Ultra to High actually gave a lot of performance.

All the rest set to Ultra and got stable 60-80 FPS at 2K even in bad weather conditions.

Whenever I use in car views, there is a weird rainbows effect going on. Probably related to the windshield physics applied to the glass.

However, in a rally like Mexico or Chili... this makes the whole surface texture get some kind of weird rainbow "moire" (Google it in photography context) and it looks utterly disgusting. 

I tried WRC Generations from Kyloton and it has none of this, just some lens flares. So it's an artistic choice and I think it is very poor and makes stages look worse then they really are. 

The solution for now is to use the bonnet camera because then the look through glass effect is gone. 

Please fix this or make it optional in settings. 

This is supposed to be a "Current/Next-generation" game. It is released 4. years after Dirt Rally 2.0. 

However, it looks distinctly last-gen for 80% of the time. Only at some rare ocassions does it give a wow feeling. 

Why did you switch from EGO to Unreal Engine 4? I believe this is also the reason why the game stutters at every split time section. I see absolutely zero benefit judging the current state of the game. It is also known for exactly the problems that this games is suffering from.

Some of my my complaints:

• Textures are very low quality
• Environments in the distance look like oil paintings
• Night time is even worse in terms of resolution
• Continous framedrops on every track
• Stuttering on every split time section change
• Also default HDR settings are terribly wrong and everyone is changing it from 50 to 20 or so to make the game look better

Seriously, have you guys done any testing on console?

The Xbox Series X has AMD GPU so might be the issue. 

• Agree 100%. Nobody wants the rainbow effect on any of the cameras, especially in car. Hard enough to keep the cars on the road as it is. Please make the windsheild rainbow effect much more minimal or zero. Dr2.0 waa much better in this
