Issue with EA SPORTS™ WRC Game Crashing on Start-Up

Dear Madam/Sir,

I recently purchased EA SPORTS™ WRC during the summer sale on Steam, eager to participate in a potential future Rally Esports challenge. Unfortunately, the game crashes on start-up, preventing me from even reaching the main menu. I have noticed that many others have faced this issue since the game's release in November 2023. It is quite frustrating that this problem persists even in July 2024. Or maybe my PC is at fault?

Could you please provide any information on whether there will be a fix for this issue soon? Additionally, I would like to know if the game will be delivered annually or if it will evolve into a model similar to CS2 or Dota 2, with continuous updates instead of annual sales.

Given that I am currently unable to play the game, I am uncertain about the refund process. If there is a positive response regarding continuous updates rather than annual sales, I would prefer to keep the game hoping that this start-up crash will be fixed in the future. Otherwise, I will have to request a refund.

I also read some reviews claiming that you added Kernel Anti-Cheat. Upon checking my Event Viewer, I saw 4 Critical Kernel-Power events and 4 Critical AppModel-Runtime events. Is your Anti-Cheat not working properly and crashing my computer? As soon as I see the intro video, my computer screen turns black, and the speed of all fans increases to the maximum. I could not even access task manager with Ctrl + Alt + Del. I only heard sound and could not give any input to my computer. In order to stop this, I have to press the power button and then restart the computer immediately to give all the hardware components time to cool down. This Kernel issue also happened with other games on release, such as CS2, for example (I checked Event Viewer at that time as well). Now, some months later, the CS2 game does not crash due to these errors as they do not happen anymore. CS2 also behaved in the same way with a black screen and other issues similar to your game.

I also tried to write the same messages above in the EA WRC Forum. My content was marked as spam for no reason. I wanted to edit a word in my text and then it immediately got marked as spam. Or did someone report my post? This is my second message.

Additionally, the link from EA is incorrect. They ask, "If you believe it is an error please report the abuse regarding the spam," and I am being sent to "Tell us why this content is inappropriate."

Please help me.

Thank you very much for your assistance.

Best regards

Okay so number 3. Run System File Checker to ensure the integrity of your Windows System files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 did the trick for me . In case the game crashes again I will try either number 3 all over again or go to the next step and try number 4.

Thank you very much for the help !

    Dear Barry ,

Lets take it one by one .

    1. Make sure your display is connected to your GPU and not the motherboard video output.

It is connected to the GPU .

    2. Download and install all available Windows Updates

    3. Run System File Checker to ensure the integrity of your Windows System files: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833

    4. Perform a clean boot before starting the game: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 or http://help.ea.com/en/article/how-to-clean-boot-your-pc/

    5. Check your machine meets the below requirements:

Windows minimum requirements EA SPORTS WRC:

    OS:Win 10

    Processor(AMD):AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

    Processor(Intel):Intel i5 9600K

    Memory: 8GB

    Graphics Card(AMD):Radeon RX Vega 56

    Graphics Card(Nvidia):Nvidia GTX 1060

    Direct X:12

    Online Connection Requirements:Broadband

    Hard Drive Space:80Gb (SSD recommended)

    Windows minimum requirements F1 2024:

    OS:Win 10

    Processor(AMD):AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

    Processor(Intel):Intel i5 9600K

    Memory: 8GB

    Graphics Card(AMD):Radeon RX Vega 56

    Graphics Card(Nvidia): AMD RX 480

    Direct X:12

    Online Connection Requirements:Broadband

    Hard Drive Space:80Gb (SSD recommended)

I have purchased both games toghether from the Summer Sale on Steam . As you can see both games have 90% the same minimum requirements . The only difference being the Graphics Card(AMD) . F1 2024 works while EA SPORTS WRC does not . Also F1 2024 sometimes lags , but the game works ( maybe I should lower down the settings ) . On the other hand EA SPORTS WRC crashes on start-up. I also own F1 2023 which works even better than F1 2024 and has similar minimum requirements . On my PC F1 23 it works flawlessly.

    Here are my PC specs:

    OS:Win 10

    Processor(AMD): AMD FX(tm)-9590 Eight-Core Processor 4.72 GHz

    Memory:16.0 GB (15.9 GB usable)

    Graphics Card(AMD):Radeon RX Vega 64

    Direct X:12

    Online Connection Requirements:Broadband

Hard Drive Space: 1 TB on SSD

    Windows minimum requirements F1 2023:

    OS:Win 10

    Processor(AMD):AMD Ryzen 5 2600X

    Processor(Intel):Intel i5 9600K

    Memory: 8GB

    Graphics Card(AMD):Radeon RX Vega 56

    Graphics Card(Nvidia): AMD RX 470

    Direct X:12

    Online Connection Requirements:Broadband

    Hard Drive Space:80Gb (SSD recommended)

Please tell me if there is any problem regarding my PC . I am pretty sure my hardware is not at fault and there is a coding issue regarding EA SPORTS WRC . As mentioned previously these types of black screen crashes from this game also happened to me in CS2 . On the other hand CS2 did not crash on start-up and crashed in a competitive match . Now this issue is fixed in CS2 because I reported it and I am not dealing with it anymore .

    Suggestion :

Please all future EA games should be played on old hardware too , because no one has so much money to always upgrade their hardware . Forcing people to always stay updated with the latest hardware in order to play a game will get you no new players or you will lose a part of the playerbase . How does CS2 work on my PC and EA SPORTS WRC does not ?

These are the minimum requirements from CS2 :

    OS:Win 10

    Processor: 4 hardware CPU threads - Intel® Core™ i5 750 or higher

    Memory: 8GB

Graphics Card: Video card must be 1 GB or more and should be a DirectX 11-compatible with support for Shader Model 5.0

    Direct X:11

    Hard Drive Space:85Gb

Why can not EA adopt the same flexibility regarding hardware ?

I want to let you know that I will come back with a second message regarding number 3 and 4 if the game is working now or not .

    Best Regards
