I sorted out by disconnecting a steering wheel by USB port only at the time when it’s asking to hold a handbrake (gear 4). Sometimes it needs to be done couple times.
Connect it back and enjoy the ride…
I hope it helps

Thank you for this.
Let us know if this helps get the shifter working for you!
Cheers!
- @jonscoltock1234 Same thing here, I was going to buy the game. Guess I’ll just stick to Dirt2.0
It's been a recurring issue. I've been experiencing the same problem since the beginning (I preordered the game) and the pattern is always the same: It works for some days then starts playing up again.
I don't know whether this will help at all, but it tends to happen more often when you try to go from a manual sequential car to an h-pattern one.
Also, if the game is in quick resume the whole wheel force feedback will go out the window.
i'm playing on Xbox Series S and a G923 wheel with the logitech shifter.
Please, fix this because it's really annoying.
Thank you in advance,

I stopped playing this game long ago because of this issue and so today I thought, let me see if things have changed, and launched the game. To my surprise, there was a 2.5GB update on this game. I was hopeful this was the fix!? Nope.
Before, at the least the shifter would work sometimes, now, it doesn't work at all. I'm done with this game, its been this way since day one, can only play it in auto transmission - who the heck wants to do that!!?

NEW UPDATE - Date today is May 3, 2025. (Since I can no longer add to this thread)
It's been 8 months since my last post about this. I have not played the game even once since my last post.
EA_Shepard I just thought, again, let's see if it works. There was a 14.5 GB update, which I successfully updated.
Results: Issue is STILL there! Not once in any test run, changes in settings, etc did it even ONCE! resolve the issue.
I've now totally given up on this game and EA Sports. I've uninstalled the game as its wastingly taking up internal storage space which can be used with games that actually work; and I've exclusively only been playing Dirt Rally 2.0.
I'm sorry, but it's clear to me that if this issue, which has been around for 2 years and has not been resolved, and is affecting other customers... I'm sorry, allow me to rephrase, other "paying" customers, then EA Sports has no intention of resolving this issue. How do I know this? BECAUSE ITS BEEN 2 YEARS! Also, since the fact that I can no longer reply to this thread and being forced to add an edited update, tells me that they archived this thread in hopes it will go away.
Since day 1, nothing has been done about this issue. Not officially, not silently despite the numerous updates. It abundantly clear to me that EA Sports does not care about its customers, and as such, I'm so done with this game and I won't be investing into any other EA Sports games, likely ever.
