I wanted to comment on this old post as it's not marked as solved.
I had this same issue recently (Jan. 2025), the game wouldn't recognise the shifter at all whereas DR2.0 recognised it and it worked.
Solution:
- Quit the game to the Xbox main menu
- Unplug your G923 and plug it back in
- Start the game
The problem seems to be the Xbox Quick Start. Always quit the game so it starts fresh next time and no need for unplugging.
