Hey there,
Thank you for reporting this issue. This has been raised to the Game Team and it is currently being investigated. I will update this thread as soon as I have more info.

Same for me very strong tearing which makes it almost unplayable on PS5.
All have you OLED TV as me , perhaps is only on OLED this problem ?
TV is not the problem, its the game issue again.
I use a Sony LCD tv with VRR enabled and haven't experienced screen tearing this much before in this game or any game I ever played on PS5. It's really bad. I hope this can be fixed in the patch next year. The amount of missing features that were announced in the patch notes and the introduction of new bugs doesn't make the future developments look bright.
On a positive note, with this game I was introduced on rally racing. After getting tired of F1, this still has me hooked. I hope we don't need to wait till WRC 2024 till we can experience the full potential this awesome game has to offer.
Please fix it quickly. It’s unplayable
Yep PS5 is total garbage now, it is way way worse that 1.3. Great job devs, wrong regen, settings reset, unplayable fps, it's getting worse with every patch.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@Gozahr Didn’t have any tearing except in replays when i first played after installing patch. But noticing it more on aphalt. Use same Sony TV type. When playing fast paced games. I noticed when back when F1 21 released. I got some screen tearing at start of races during heavy rain. So as I like to tinker with settings. Turning off HDR tone mapping, auto local dimming, peak luminance. In brightness settings and then reality creation and smooth gradation In clarity settings cleared it up completely and kept FPS at 120. Can’t be sure it will currently help in this game. As I havnt changed the settings since 2021. But worth a try. Also watched a TV guru YouTube video where he suggested. Go increase tv performance and reduce any latency issues when gaming. Go to TV settings- system-About. Scroll down to Android TV OS build. Tap select 10 times on remote control. Unlocks the TV developer options. Go back to system menu. Go to developer options. Then scroll all the way down to background process limit. Default is set to standard. But you can choose max amount. When gaming I turn them off. Have no idea what the processes are but hasn’t had any negative effects. But at the same time if it does increase performance it’s not anything major
First year I’ve given up on F1 so early in the year, WRC is perfect optimised in comparison 😂. Actually really enjoying this game for most part Another PS5 player here, this "update" has introduced very bad screen tearing even when scrolling through menus i have seen it, stuttering is now worse and the reply mode is almost at the point it cannot be watched or used add to that game crashes/errors! What is going on here EA as it seems to please one side of the fence you upset or disregard the other, does anyone actually test these fixes for any length of time? I am at the point i have reinstalled previous WRC/Dirt 2 titles which is a real shame i hope you can or will fix this performance issue asap. Having spoken to some PC players they are kind of used to having to optimize there systems for games but console does not really have that much option and many people on console just want to buy a game and play it and it be a finished working and issue free product.
My thoughts exactly... it comes across as they have sacrificed the PS5 version and it is unacceptable, they should refund us IMO.

Also maybe an idea to turn off camera shake and motion blur until this issue is fixed. I’m thinking less things the game has to deal with may help it keep up.
I nuked the game and my save game earlier. As it was a large update we got increases the likelihood some update files didnt implement properly. I’m not going to say one way or the other if it’s improved anything until I’ve put more hours in and I can say with any confidence if doing a clean install is worth doing. Has helped with other games over the years
@ScarDuck14 Thanks for your elaboration on game and tv settings. I also like to tinker with settings, but didn't know that I could enter developer mode on my TV. I will sure give this a try today. Camera shake and motion blur are some settings I disable first in any fast paced game. I have doubt the developer tv settings wil have a huge impact. This is not something the average user needs to do to get a smooth gaming experience.
Before patch 1.4 the game showed minimal stuttering (besides the panning around the car at the start and after finishing the stage, but that got fixed with the patch) and I didn't notice screen tearing. Now with patch 1.4 there is screen tearing everywhere in any location while racing and in replays.
I don't agree that this game in its current state is better optimised than F1 23. What I can agree with is that this game is trying to deliver a better racing experience with higher frame rates compared to F1. When I first enabled VRR I noticed how it turned F1 23 in a low fps slideshow, most noticeable in replays. This game was smooth before the patch. I know the PS5 has his limitations, but imo the game is trying to hard to look nice and also delivering high fps at the same time. For instance, the quite noticeable dynamic reflections from dashboard instruments on my windscreen during daytime. I personally don't need to see that.
As I said, gameplay was smooth before the patch. This made me look past the AI issues as i expect they will be fixed eventually. Now the visual experience is also bad.
So, that was quite a lot of text from me. I'm an old guy, 47, wich did league racing with PC mods for F1 Challenge '99-'22. Those were my days of peak performance 😉 Several years ago I bought a PS4 and started racing again. It was a on off experience wit F1 titles. But now I discovered rally racing on a PS5. With this game and feel the pleasure in racing again from the good old days. I even bought a new sim rig, have 2 TSS handbrake mod+ and am eagerly waiting for the sim hub to arrive. I really like this game to be as good as possible.

On xbox series x since the last update the screen tearing is the worst ive ever seen in a game and the stutering and frame drops are worse than before the day one patch.
The patch made many good fixes but the game is pretty much unplayable with these performance issues, espesially on rallies like spain and japan, the screen tear and frame drops are the difference between making the turn or not. And the co driver is still too late on alot of calls, most noticeable in mexico and corsica.
@ScarDuck14 I went into developer mode on my TV and disabled the background processes. It made little to no difference regarding screen tearing.
Initially I did a short test run on a Portugal stage and thought it was gone. After that i tested at my favourite Sardenga stage, Bassacutena, and it was back. It happens quite often, sometimes 3 tearing situations within a few seconds.VRR normally prevents screen tearing, but now isn't able to compensate anymore after last patch. I don't envy people without that option. It must be a horrendous experience for them.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@Gozahr Yeah as so many are reporting it and all having the issue start after patch. It’s undoubtedly a game issue. And as you say it’s not just an occasional one: But multiple all at once. So I’m pretty much trying everything so when game communicates with PS5 which in turn does so with TV. So There is absolutely nothing gets in the way. It’s why I turn off the TV display settings when playing fast games. As all those analysis picture in real time and makes adjustments accordingly but they interfere with game data when I’m playing WRC or F1. It’s not a lot but I instantly feel a tad more latency when making steering inputs on controller. F1 as it runs at 120 especially. Any other game I wouldn’t notice. But 1000s of hours playing F1 on PS5 smooth and precise steering are critical when using a pad. my left thumb is now perfectly in tune with left stick and feels the tiniest difference
Which is why I get such a buzz driving on this game. My thumb only touches stick wh j flicking left and right, complete opposite to F1 No news ? Simple solution to PS5 user can play return to 1.3 version for the moment and wait to find a new patch to increase the 1.4 on PS5 , it's easy to make no ? Because we want play we love this game and is inplayble now . You can't make wait more for all guy have this issue please .
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@dubduboli13 Over the last few years players have been asking for rollbacks for F1 patches at various times. But they back when Codemasters had its own forums said it’s impossible 🤷🏻♂️. I hate feeling a little smug at this point as I want everyone to be enjoying the game. But when EA took over and moved the game forums here. They made me champion shortly after. And I did say to them that ever since they released a patch via the internet they have always sucked at it😂. Unfortunately with the last 2 F1 games and now WRC they have proven me as all knowing as ever 😂
Hello.
I bought and download the game for my PS5 yesterday, and I am really disappointed because of tearing and fps low consistence. Tearing has a strong presence during every stage, affecting handling and concentration. It is really frustrating trying to get immersed in gameplay with this graphic problems. As far as I know, the recent 1.4 patch was going to fix this reported problems, but it seems not to be the case so far. I wonder if you are working on fixing this problem.
Thank you very much.
- ScarDuck142 years agoLegend@mrondanf Yes they are working on it
- @ScarDuck14 Lets hope so!

I had to start a new career because of the career bug, lost all progress, and now it's still unplayable because of that terrible tearing & stuttering. Can I get a refund? Sony really should remove the game from the store until it's playable/fixed.
Hi, I bought this game today, thinking the problems had been resolved, apparently the stuttering problem persists, EA wake up or give our money back
- @WarZard-X I would be happy with a refund right now, 1.4 is not acceptable on PS5, in its current state it is not fit for purpose and i am not confident they can fix this.
maybe EA can answer me this , was this update/patch 1.4 actually tested on a PS5 before being released, it can not have been given the mess it is! As for the pre release you tube reviews ....does not look good does it as clearly not accurate or dare i say honest, or did you just give them a snippet of what you could actually make work. Are you asking too much of what the PS5 can deliver? Product: EA SPORTS™ WRC
Platform:PlayStation 5
Summarize your bug Patch 1.4 has made the game unplayable on PS5! Screen tearing like I’ve never seen before.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Play the game on PS5.
What happens when the bug occurs? Screen tearing galore. Almost constantly!
What do you expect to see? Fix the issue on PS5 asap. Not months from now!
Why did you release the game like this? When you had to know that it wasn’t ready! Update 1.4 has made the issues much worse on PS5. Don’t you guys test these updates internally before releasing them? The point, if I’m not mistaken, is for the updates to resolve issues not make them 10x worse. This is completely unacceptable!
