usb handbrake not detected?

I have a generic Amazon handbrake (mine says aikeec on it), which does work in game, however I have to rebind and recalibrate it every single play session. When I go into control settings, it says "unknown device detected". On the next screen, I change it from "unknown" to "handbrake", and then go into the control settings, and bind the axis to handbrake. If I do not go through these steps at the start of every play session, the handbrake is not recognized. It's annoying for sure as this has never been an issue in any other game (including DR 2.0). Hopefully this will get fixed as I'm sure a lot of people will be using these types of handbrakes, and it's just a generic usb axis so there shouldn't be any issue with supporting it.

Same issue, same device. DR1,DR2, WRC 9, and WRC 10 all work without issue. Does not even show up as 'unknown device'. Unplugging/plugging in while in game also does not force it to show.

I'm looking to buy that handbrake. Is the issue fixed? All I see is people having issues in November but I have not found anyone saying it has been patched or if it works now.
