Using DLSS introduces more stuttering, and other issues.
This is a technical issue I've not seen people mention here yet, but has been brought up elsewhere like the discord, steam community forums, reddit, etc. It's been an issue since launch.
Using DLSS seems to add more stuttering during gameplay, and going to a lower DLSS upscale resolution via higher performance preset, increases these stutters significantly, both in terms of severity and frequency. These are completely separate from the common shader cache stutters that smooth out over time.
Quality DLSS = Barely any stutters added
Balanced DLSS = More stuttering occurs, but not harsh ones, more like microstutters
Performance & High Performance DLSS = Absurd amount of stuttering, and these hitches becomes severe like shader cache stutters, except they never go away over time.
I'm not sure if this is an Unreal Engine or WRC or DLSS specific issue, perhaps some combination of those and how upscaling in this game is handled in general. I've personally never experienced this behavior in any game while using DLSS before. It happens no matter what default resolution is used: 4k/1440p/1080p. The performance gain from using higher performance DLSS presets is also very minor compared to other games, and with the extreme amount of ghosting and swimmy visuals any DLSS adds here along with the additional stuttering, it really seems like that whole entire feature is busted in multiple ways compared to most other games.
I'm aware there's usually going to be some additional blur and ghosting with DLSS or TAA active compared to native res, but I've never seen the ghosting and afterimages as bad as they are here, except for maybe RDR2 some years back. And the surfaces of the road swimming, flowing, and moving like they're alive when using DLSS while driving is something I've never seen before.
