Kernel-Mode Heap Corruption (0x13A) with Easy Anti-Cheat

Environment:

  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13400F
  • GPU: ZOTAC GeForce RTX 5060 Ti 16GB (GDDR7 / Blackwell)
  • RAM: 32GB DDR4-3200
  • SSD: Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus 1TB
  • OS: Windows 11 25H2 (Build 26200.7623)

Issue Description:

The game constantly freezes, or causes BSOD with error KERNEL_MODE_HEAP_CORRUPTION (0x13A) during gameplay, and happens while even not running the game in background, including Windows startup. Uninstalling the Easy Anti-Cheat solved the issue, indicating a direct conflict between the Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) driver and the Windows 11 26200.7623 kernel. This issue started to happen since latest update that was deployed on Steam.

Steps to Reproduce:

  • On Windows 11 Build 26200.7623, ensure the March 5, 2026 update is applied.
  • Launch Apex Legends and let Easy Anti-Cheat becomes enabled on system.
  • System will either crash to BSOD (0x13A) immediately or freeze within 5–10 minutes of gameplay, and will start to cause random crashes even the game is not running.

Confirmed Resolution:

Entering the Safe Mode and uninstalling Easy Anti-Cheat using built-in EAC setup executable files restores system stability.

  • Update: This issue seems to be happening regardless of Anti-Cheat. It seems the changes related to graphic feature like shader is more likely to cause the OS to crash. However, I still cannot confirm if this is still related with Anti-Cheat.

  • Hey guys, if you still have issue for NVIDIA 50 series, try this driver which includes some emergency hotfixes, that might address crashes related to KERNEL HEAP crashes.
