Hard freeze (manual reset needed) since update 1.1.3.5 – only during Alt+Tab

My issues started on January 21st. Before this date, I only experienced occasional driver timeouts that the PC recovered from after a few seconds. Since then, I can consistently trigger a total system freeze. Examples:

  • While the game was running, I Alt+Tabbed and clicked to start a call in Discord; this resulted in a total system lockup.
  • Most commonly: Alt+Tab out of the game, open the Microsoft Teams app, return to the game, then Alt+Tab again – Boom, the PC freezes completely.

What I have tried so far:

  • Applied MPO fix.
  • Uninstalled all Windows 11 updates from January.
  • Disabled Steam Overlay and completely uninstalled all RGB/lighting control software (MSI Center/Antec iUnity).
  • Added TdrDelay in the Registry.
  • The most telling part: I had zero issues previously with AMD driver 25.12.1. I updated to 26.1.1 when the issue started, but even after performing a clean rollback to the 25.12.1 version, I can still trigger the freeze instantly.

Comparison with other titles: Interestingly, this issue is exclusive to BF6. I tested Arc Raiders and Path of Exile 2 under the same conditions (endless Alt+Tabbing with Discord/Teams open), and both remain perfectly stable. The system only hard-freezes with BF6.

My Specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT
  • RAM: 32 GB (6000MHz with EXPO enabled)
  • OS: Windows 11 (Build 26200.7462)

    I'm also having this issue. Exactly as described.

    Also happens when alt tabbing out of the game. 

    Only having this issue in Battlefield. 

    What I've tried:

    • Rolling back and updating NVIDIA drivers.
    • Checking event viewer and crash dumps (No crash dumps are generated and event viewer doesn't contain any logs that indicate why the system is freezing).
    • Setting CPU / RAM settings to default in motherboard.
    • Repairing game in steam, of course.
    • Closing software that may interfere with the game, for example Docker Desktop
    • When computer locks up resetting graphics drivers (Windows + Control + Shift + B). No typical beep or response, so the entire system is frozen, not just the display driver.

    Specs:

    • CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 7950X
    • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
    • RAM: 128 Gb 4800 MHZ 
    • OS: Windows 11 Pro (Build 26200.7623 (25H2))
    • Maybe unusual features enabled
      • Hyper-V
      • Containers
      • WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux)

     

    This issue is persistent and happens anytime I'm playing and alt tab out. Even on the main menu if I'm doing something in the background it causes a system freeze, requiring hard reset.

    This didn't used to happen, I can't recall exactly what changed to make it start happening. It feels like a recent thing, about the past week.
