PC (Windows 10) controller causing system-level crashes
I play on MnK but use a wireless (Bluetooth) Xbox elite 2 controller to fly since I can’t do that on MnK. I unbound most of the controls to everything but flying for the controller.
For the first week of playing this was not a problem but a few days ago whenever I turned on my controller in-game and started moving the game froze, and my entire PC became completely unresponsive, even my RGB software (iCUE) stopped working and reset the lights to default lighting. Ctrl+Alt+Delete didn’t do anything and the only thing I can do is completely turn off my pc. This is a consistent issue that occurs only when turning on and connecting the controller when in game, this doesn’t occur when in the main menu and the controller will work, even in game, until it turn off because I only use it for flying.
At first enabling steam controller input fixed this issue but today it reoccurred and changing steam controller input did nothing to solve the issue.
I suspect this could be some kind of anti-cheat issue with connecting a new device while in game, but a system level freeze probably isn’t the intended response.
Attempted Fixes:
- Verifying integrity of game files in steam
- Updating Drivers (I keep these updated so no updates were needed)
- Updating Controller drivers
- Reinstalling the game*
Note*: After reinstalling the game my controller refuses to connect via Bluetooth when playing the game(works fine with other games) and it blue screens my pc instead of just breaking it.
