the AI’s pace in wet conditions on the wet tyres is far too quick and it’s impossible to keep up with them. Even changing to inters and doing faster lap times the AI are still going quicker on worn wet tyres. It’s almost like they have unlimited traction

Is it the AI car or is it the player car? With the right tyre and differential and brake balance shifted and full TC and full brake assist my car still wiggles far too much to keep up in full wet. The AI cars are on rails.
So do the AI cars need less grip or do we need more? I get not being able to control the car if I am on the wrong tyre but when I’ve adjusted as much as I can during a wet/dry race and am just on pace in the dry with a dry set up then the issue is either my grip is too low on wets and inters or the AI needs nerfing when it rains.

AEF251 I’m starting to think it’s the player car because you don’t get any grip after coming out of the corners until about 4th gear but also I saw someone mention short shifting and ever since then I’ve looked when I’ve done a wet race and in the wet with an automatic gearbox the car shift up the gears earlier than it should.

ConnahK you might be right there. Also when coming out the the corners the car doesn’t get any grip until about 4th gear and if you use an automatic gearbox keep an eye on the gears because I saw someone mention short shifting and now I’ve realised that the gears change before they’re meant to.

EA_Groguet I’m sure you’ve seen it else where but look into the fact that player cars aren’t getting grip until 4th gear in the wet and that the gears are shifting too early with an automatic gearbox in the wet. Also in another comment someone said about when drs is deactivated so it might be worth the team having a look at those things.

The short shiftting bug is listed for the next patch. This is not the source of the problem for AI speed in wets. It sure relates to Tyre temps, excessive grip for the AI and almost no Tyre degradation for the AI, while we struggle with all of these variables.

it is a start, short shifting is so much slower on straights but it wont fix the AI yes

EA_Groguet Since we haven't received any feedback for a very long time (not even when addressing you directly in the comments), I'm trying again with a question:
Can you tell us whether the fix for the "short shifting rain" that's supposed to come with the next patch will solve the issue in your opinion? Are there any other adjustments being worked on? - Haddock172 months agoNew Spectator
I’ve noticed that in the wet the revs on the car won’t go to max if using wet tyres. As soon as you swap to dry tyres the revs go all the way to max I think this is probably the issue with the speed as the game is shifting far to early in the rev range compared to dry conditions
