Do you still have this problem? Since i just starting to try to play with my friend and it seems not working too. Me on PC and him on Xbox series X. I read that it should be cross playable since its on same New gen version but the game won't allow us to invite each other.
If you cant invite each other one of you might have cross play off, for me I can invite him but he cant invite me and yes its still an issue
Both of us had crossplay on. When we tried to invite each other we got same warning that it said "unable to play or invite players because incompatible device etc" that's why we both confused. We still trying to figure it out why though and i will update here if we manage to fix it 😅
