Can Not Sign Or Extend Player Contracts

in career mode, every player on my team states they are not interested in extending or talking about their contracts at the moment so basically I cannot extend or sign players in career mode on FC 26. I just have to let the players ultimately go through their contracts and they leave on a free transfer, which totally defeats the purpose of playing career mode. This seems to be a glitch that needs to be resolved ASAP or playing career mode is actually pointless.
