Game defaulting controller to player 2 on PC

The game defaults to player 2 if I don't immediately use my controller in the game (if i tab or something it will use keyboard as player 1 i guess) and this makes the game unresponsive sometimes, but worse than that, if my controller ever disconnects while playing, when i reconnect it will be player 2 and in some UT Modes it will make it impossible to keep playing the game as it will display an error stating i should connect the controller i started the game with, this makes it so that i cant play if I'm controller 2 and defaults to keyboard/mouse which bugs too, ill attach a video of how this made me lose an squad battles game because my controller disconnected mid game and didn't allowed me to go back in the game, please fix this, it has been in the game for way too long
