Hello everyone,
After spending several months trying to understand this issue, I believe I have finally isolated what is causing the problem with Classic Teams and why it breaks roster editing in EA SPORTS FC 26.
At first, I simply wanted to transfer players such as Kylian Mbappé or Jude Bellingham from Real Madrid to another club using Edit Teams. However, I discovered that only certain players could be transferred correctly before the game started blocking further edits.
After a lot of testing, I found a very strange workaround.
If I edit a player like Mbappé and temporarily change his position from Striker to Goalkeeper, the game suddenly allows transfers that were previously blocked. The same behavior also happens with other players included in Classic Teams.
Unfortunately, this does not actually fix the problem.
Instead, it exposes what appears to be the real issue:
- The player is still duplicated internally.
- The Classic Team roster becomes inconsistent.
- The squad management system no longer behaves correctly.
- In some situations, the game can even crash after these edits.
From all the testing I have done, it seems that the conflict comes from the interaction between the normal club roster and the duplicated version of the player stored inside the Classic Team.
This creates several problems:
- Players cannot be freely transferred between clubs.
- Classic Teams continue referencing the same player.
- Duplicate player records interfere with roster editing.
- Career Mode and offline squad management can become unstable.
The goalkeeper workaround only bypasses one validation inside the editor. It does not solve the underlying database conflict.
I believe there are two proper solutions:
Option 1 (recommended): Allow users to customize the Classic Team rosters, similar to how National Teams can be edited. This would let users replace modern players with legends and prevent duplicate conflicts.
Option 2: Separate Classic Team players from the normal club database so that editing or transferring a current player does not affect the Classic Team version.
At the moment, neither solution exists, which means players are forced to use strange workarounds just to edit offline squads.
I have reproduced this behavior multiple times, and it appears to affect several Classic Teams, including Real Madrid, Liverpool, Chelsea, Juventus and Bayern Munich.
I hope this information helps the development team identify the root cause. My goal is simply to help document the issue as clearly as possible, since it has a significant impact on offline play, squad editing and Career Mode.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
A final note for EA_Darko:
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read this.
I completely understand that you have many reports to review every day and that not every issue can receive an immediate response. I also understand that some bugs may take longer to investigate than others.
However, I kindly ask that this issue be given some attention whenever possible. Although it mainly affects the offline experience rather than the online modes, it has a significant impact on players who enjoy Squad Editing, Kick-Off, and Career Mode. These are core features that many of us purchased the game to enjoy.
This issue has been present since the game's release and continues to affect offline roster management in ways that can lead to duplicate players, broken Classic Team rosters, and even game crashes under certain conditions.
I apologize if this message is lengthy or adds to your workload. My intention is not to complain, but simply to provide as much useful information as possible to help identify the root cause of the problem.
Whenever possible, we would greatly appreciate any update, even if it is simply to let the community know that the issue is being investigated.
Thank you again for your time and for all the work you do.
