I didn't change anything else after my last comment and now the issue has stopped so I can't check. I'm not sure but it seems like the issue might not have been with my computer/connection in the first place. More detailed error messages would help client-side troubleshooting, "timed out" and a string of numbers doesn't really tell me much about what happened and whether it was my internet or the server/s I was connecting to. No other online service seemed to be having issues from my end and I haven't added any new software.
