Game goes into slow-mo / freezes

For around 9 hours the game was running perfectly, not a single issue but as of today when I try and play the game, every 30-60s it will randomly slow down, slow inputs and sometimes just freeze completely.

Then it will kick back into the normal speed and resume playing normally - it's making the game unplayable when trying to do stuff.
