So it appears the game is yet again bugged, as I am now seeing the error message below while trying to open the game on my Android.
It appears after the Disney logo + SWGOH start screen, but when it tries loading the lobby/cantina, the error occurs.

That error indicates that the game is having issues downloading required assets, which is usually related to an unstable/no ideal network connection. Please make sure you have a good connection.
