I have this same problem with the Romantic Competition.

When I use the Resume button on the start screen, it shows a loading screen, then kicks out to the world select screen. Then I try to load the household, choose the sim that is at Love Highland. It loads into the lot, with the same UI glitches. Additionally, the schedule doesn't seem to affect the sims, no one cooks/eats at 5pm, etc.

No last exception files were generated. The save is brand new, PC, no mods were used.

I tested your save and got the same LE as this thread so I moved your post over.

Did you also choose any attraction preferences ?

  Yes, absolutely, I did add both a Gender restriction, and an Attraction restriction.
