The only business activity available is to do laundry, but sims won't wait for them or try to dry them. They will literally put clothing in the washing machine and leave the business a few moments later. I wouldn't complain if they hadn't advertised this, but they literally said in one of their blog posts that we could run a laundromat. We need them to include "wait for laundry" and "dry laundry" in the business activities tab, or something.

Having the same issue with customer only washing clothes then leaving then on dryer. My employee will move clothes to the dry once in a blue moon but will not start the dryer. Hopefully they fix it.
Fun fact: This was already so in Sims 3 laundromats. It seems impossible to code the whole washing process for NPCs. Perhaps turning off free will may help?

They can introduce new business activities as "dry clothes" "take out clothes from dryer" to help alleviate this problem.
That would occupy slots unnecessarily, I think "Do Laundry" should encompass all that.
Including "wait for laundry" and "dry laundry" would be, in my opinion, not the best solution because it would mean that just doing laundry alone would take up 3 activity slots out of 5, which is impractical considering we can't increase the number of activity slots. I think they should update the already existing activity to include waiting and drying, 3 in one.
I have this problem also and I have no mods or cc, play on pc, and own most expansions and packs
