Sharing some testing I have done with black photos in my game. These are black photos that occur on opening up the game from photos that were taken in preceding game session.
Low quality cameras with or without filter, possibly okay/low rate of black photos.
Higher quality cameras with filter, very high chance of black photos.
High quality camera no filter, low chance of black photos.
I tested all game cameras that I have plus one mod camera (RVSN ISO). Prior to this test I had fully replicated the photo issue in a new save with an empty mod folder. Photos go black at seemingly the same rate on wall or in sims inventory.
When do they become black? After putting them in any type of storage? Including memento boxes, storage boxes, digital frames, etc?
Photos do not turn black during the gameplay session they were taken in but will be black on opening the game the very next time. Any photos that are good on opening the game then seem to be safe going forward. The photos were taken and then placed on the wall as shown in my testing images. Photos left in the sims inventory also turn black at a similar rate but for testing purposes I lined up photos on the wall by camera. I don't use any storage options for photos.
