I have played with animals a lot and I know that I could, for example, praise them for getting on furniture or eating food, just as I could scold them for these behaviours. This gave depth and other possibilities for stories, as it meant that animals could have traits such as "learned to get on furniture" or "learned to eat human food". For example, I could adopt a spoiled dog who wouldn't eat his kibble but would only eat human food because he had the trait "has learned to eat human food" and had been "praised for..." or "congratulated for..." (I don't know how to say this in English).
My problem is that this interaction (and the associated traits) has disappeared from the game. We can no longer "congratulate them for something." We can only "congratulate" them, and this interaction does nothing except increase friendship. I can't praise them for their good behaviour, I can only reprimand them when they do something wrong.
I'm playing without mods. I removed the "localthumbcache.package" file and repaired the game, but the interaction is still missing.
I also created a new save by creating new Sims and news pets twice, but the interaction is still missing.
